So do any of the tech types know why even though I have been off the internet a few times today the contest is claiming billc226’s 2012-02-23 04:47:52 PM entry is a new entry? It’s been the new entry the last 4 or 5 times I checked. Every other thread I check is keeping normal track of new stuff and if I look later and there is nothing new It says I have seen everything before I click on it. you know the (1) at the end of the how many posts thingy.

By complete chance I ran across what looks to be a dupe. bastian_74’s entry appears to have been previously used in “Hope” and “Can I Get A Show Of Hands?”. File numbers don’t match, crop is slightly different, but wanted to bring it up.

I thought that one looked familiar, but I can’t get a 100% verification that it’s a dupe. The file from this week’s contest has a timestamp of Feb 22, 2012, but no other EXIF data, and the one from “Hope” has no EXIF at all. It’s possible that it’s two consecutive frames. I did stack them in GIMP, it looks like they align pretty closely (though not exactly, owing to a pixel or two crop). If it were just the razor blade, that wouldn’t mean much, but I’d think it would be difficult to get the hand in the exact same place within the bumpy texture of the counter from one frame to the next, and you can line up all those bumps and the reflection with the same reflection. Still, I think I’ll ask in thread before pulling it just in case…

Yeah I would bet my point n shoot they are the same picture with different editing to make them slightly different. the hand is in as near as I can tell exactly the same position.

Ok I think I have acceptable images for this. Because of a broken tripod two of them are Lego scenes but they both seem to me to portray fear and rage at the same time.

I suppose if I had more (interesting) friends, the problem would resolve itself.

Tell me about it! I love all of my friends, but NONE of them are the kind of people that want their portraits taken. We’re all bookish types and no one is really all that into their physical beauty. I tell them I don’t want glamor shots, but they just smile and tell me to go to hell.

Yeah none of my friends would pose for me either. I get the exact same response. lol

Well I am screwed for anything low light now especially. As I said yesterday in another thread I busted my only tripod. So all the ideas I had are not nearly as easy to do. Possible maybe but only if I find some luck or some glue and never worry again about where the damn tripod is pointed. lol. I can’t tighten down the tilt part of the head anymore. So either all my shots are oriented as portraits or hand held. Man I should have dealt with this theme when it first popped up.

Oh I will! First thing I will need once I have money flowing again is a new tripod. Mine broke last night so now my Noir Pictures will be that much trickier to make even semi decent. Stupid tripod body where the tilt screw goes was all plastic. I guess that’s what I get for buying my tripod at a pawnshop. Of course at the time I barely knew how to take pictures let alone what made a quality tripod.
