I also hope everyone in the danger zone are safe and still know where all their stuff is. Because we know how tornadoes like to spread peoples possessions around. Stay safe you all.

i had a couple of nokias and liked them. of course if the market was driven by me .. well you guys would be whining and crying like crazy. crappy flip phones with crappy cameras no internet and no text — FTW.

My current cell phone is one of the cheapo prepay per month things and it has none of the features people seem to need these days. No camera no internets no flip no frills at all. It also only ran about $40 a month. although right now it’s shut off for lack o cash.

Aw shit I just realized this is next week so now I have to get a pile of books to look through and actually shoot something new.

I have the same problem. Well except all most every book in our apartment is sci-fi or fantasy and the few times I opened a sci-fi book I invariably point to some one getting shot with a ray gun or being attacked by space aliens. lol Have you tried to photograph a Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal?

I wonder why they moved away from Nokia? My first cell phone was a Nokia flip phone thing. Heh I was a late adopter to cell phone tech. Not a clue what model it was but I don’t remember seeing any the last few times I went in for a new phone either.

Heh. when this contest comes up my entries will be sooc. because I won’t really be able to make em any better and making em worse than they already will be would be trickier than making em better. lol. I picked the 35mm lens for this and that thing is a bitch to get usable images from. My film still sits here undeveloped until I find a job so the 35mm is my only real option.

I understand the basic principles, but how do you make it asplode so it illuminates the subject?

What in the hells is that? Why is there a smart phone on top of that camera?

Fair enough. It seems other than you price comment the $50 wallyworld camera would have fit the bill.

He also said “less than 1mp”. Does the Wally World one qualify? I believe a “VGA” qualifies (640x480px). I’ve got an old cell phone that would qualify as well… maybe that’s what I’ll use… the microSD card is easier to use than the Spiderman software.

Oh yeah It was a 640 by 480 max built in memory was around 50 mb if I remember right. I didn’t have to do any editing at all and Fark thought they were fine with the old file size limits. Four years ago I had a better cell phone camera. But no way to transfer those crappy cell phone pics to my computer. lol

Well all three of my pictures for this week are of the same parking lot but I like em. Hope I do better than the Noir theme. lol It would be hard to do much worse.

Right. I just wanted to make sure the no digital filters part made it into the description. As written, the description allows the craptastic keychain cams, but I was referring to someone who asked about using their daughter’s 640×480 playskool camera (turns out, I’m actually kinda familiar with that one…. don’t ask). I figured anything that crappy digital is more of a handicap in the “so bad it’s good” theme than a help so why bother striking it down and limiting participation.

Fair enough. It seems other than you price comment the $50 wallyworld camera would have fit the bill. I used it for the first probably half dozen contest I entered. like the helicopter from the first curves contest. I just went to imageshack to link it and It seems some of the oldest pictures are missing now. Not even sure I have a cd backup of those. lolwell

Very cool find! There was an old Kodak like that for sale at the local thrift shop a while back but it was in the worst shape I have ever seen a camera. several missing pieces around the bellows like the entire shutter button mechanism. I have two Kodak Tourist IIs. I bought at the same time I saw the older one. One of the Tourists seems perfect the other one has some minor light leaks in the bellows. They are both the fixed-focus Kodet lens version F/12.5 to F/32. Which seems from my minimal research to be the cheaper, simpler model?

Alright, in the contest description it says ‘cheap cameras’, what I’d like to know is: does this count?

    http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6699305&CatId=3632

I spent a day wandering in and out of the electronics stores in Chinatown and got nothing. I really hope this fits the bill.

Looks sketchy enough, I’ll allow it. Ultimately, I’d like people to get out and do something creative with either full analogue or analogue techniques shoehorned into/onto a digital frame. I have already said though (perhaps in the initial voting thread?) that toy digitals would be okay. I don’t want to add a hard limit to the description, but I figure if full digitial must be done, then it should be less than 1MP on a less than $15 camera. This does both.

/Speaking of, Elsinore, just to preempt the heartache, do you mind if I add a no instahipstashit-o-matic apps/filters clause to the description?

I thought we already decided that there was to be no filters from real digital cameras like my Canon PowerShot ELPH 100hs. It has a toy camera setting that does rather convincing lomo looking pictures. Which was why I cut up a 35 mm piece o junk and wedged it on to my Rebel. Man that thing is hard to get useable pictures with. lol And even my crappy $50 walmart camera wouldn’t have worked with the standards you are allowing. which is fine because I gave that hunk op crap to a friend who didn’t have a camera at the time. I bet he has taken 3 pictures with it in the several years since I gave it to him.

And It’s Orange again. Sounds like a pretty good deal Pope_Larry_II. If I had a laptop and my roommates older telescope I would totally disassemble my web camera. I never use it anyway.
