Voting on my pics is opposite what I expected! Farktography is always a suprise!

Ditto. My cute kid shot is flopping, The barbed wire bokeh has about 11 more votes than I expected.

I really liked your wheat pic, btw.

My cute kid is doing good as I expected. My Alpacas are beating my harrow though and I like the harrow shot better.

Your barbed wire shot is cool.

They were on the other side on an electric fence. I think they might have eated me if they were not!

I have a couple of photos from ranches, bu they are sunset photos. I have another photo of a ranch with a brewing thunderstorm. Are these not acceptable? I don’t want to cause any trouble.

    Here are links to them:

what if the dairy is not actually IN the picture, but I and my subject are indeed on the dairy grounds…?

Its the same fence as in this picture, which actually includes the dairy…and some eyesore pickup truck.

My most used lenses are my 50mm 1.8 and 70-200L lens.
The 50mm 1.8 is a relatively inexpensive lens and not the highest quality but it is a very versatile piece of glass. If you go with the 50mm 1.4 the price goes way up but so does the things you can do with it.

The 70-200L without IS can be bought for decent money right now and if you have a steady hand or use a tripod for long shots its the way to go. The IS version is an awesome lens but the cost is almost double and so is the weight.

I also have a 18-55s lens which is ok but I just use it when I want a real wide shot.

My 40d came with the 24-135 IS as the kit lens and I like it but do not use it a whole lot.

I also have a 70-300IS usm lens that I almost never use and am thinking about selling. Its a great lens up to about 220mm then it gets a bit too soft for my taste. So I may as well use the 70-200 which is tack sharp all the way.

As for where to buy I bought most of my lenses on eBay used because I am a cheap bastard.

I have bought lenses from superdigitalcity.com and have had good luck with tehm and the prices are about the lowest around.

    Hope this helps some.

I’m thinking of going back to the darkroom and reprinting the first with brown tone, what do you think of that idea?

    Something like this(QD Photobucket Edit)

I like the browner version much better. Looks more ole timey than just straight B&W

Your second pic don’t have a farm vibe to me either. Train tracks kill it.

Anyone want to critique a couple possible entries?

    Farm 1
    Farm 2

Also, are these two different enough to be two separate entries, or do I need to pick one or the other?

I like the 1st one better myself.

The 2nd one has a better composition but it looks crooked to me (pet peeve is crooked photos) I don’t think it is I think it is just the angle but it catches my eye as crooked on first glance.

Hey. It just hit me. No Halloween III this year?

/don’t have strong feelings one way or another.

We talked about it in a thread a few weeks ago but nobody seemed interested.

I am looking forward to this one. I am going to use my favorite shot I have ever taken in this theme!

The lack of interest is OK w/ me.

As for your second comment – CAUTION! Don’t be too married to your photo. You know how goofy Farkers can vote. 🙂

I’m not worried about votes. The shots I like best never do well anyway.

I am just happy to have a place to show it off 😉

Why would you get a 90mm T/S lens? I would think that something wider, like a 24 or 35 would be more useful. (Something like this 35mm f/2.8 T/S)

That’s part of the reason I didn’t pull the trigger so to speak.

I would rather have the 24 or 45. They had the 90 on the shelf marked down to $950 (open box)

I think my wifey is going to get me a Lensbaby for Christmas though..so I got that going for me.

Lenbabies seem to give more of a tunnel vision type DOF.

T/S lenses tend to give a narrower more straight DOF.

I had one in my hand at Ritz last week (Canon 90mm 2.8 ) but managed to restrain myself from dropping a g-note. ( I’m proud of me 🙂 ) for now.

Good example of what I mean here.. Looks like a miniature movies set.

I’d like to solicit feedback on a photo that made my finalists list this week. Is this,

“middle of the night” enough for this contest? It was dark outt, but not too long after sunset.

I’m fine not using it, but I do like it so I thought I’d get a ruling before the contest goes live.

Works for me. I only have a few late night shots and I don’t know if I am going to use any of them .

9pm here is 1am somewhere else right?

    It’s dark…close enough for me.

You might sense a theme with my entries 🙂

let me know the URL they land on 🙂

    Great shots!

I am going to suck out this week…no time to get out and shoot. Although I did snap a few shots the other day at 2am. My wife thinks I have completely lost it.
