I’m not having much luck with this camera *sigh* Today it came back, the box all beat to hell with a Return to Sender sticker on it. There’s no reason checked on the list of reasons. Not sure what to do at this point…

I don’t know what shipping service you used to send the camera to Uranus but it must have been expensive! …thanks I’ll be here all weekend! Try the veal.

I ships stuff internationally almost every day.

Is it possible your lens and/or filter is getting fogged up and/or catching light from the side?

I had very similar problems when I was holding the front my lens steady with one hand, the camera with another, and focusing with another.

well i won’t say that my collections are cool to others but i like them.

and it’s contests like this that farktography should be on occasion. technical merit and sticking tightly to the week’s theme also have their place but it’s contests like this that grow the membership.

I don’t mind contests that end up like this. I personally vote on technical merit and adherence to theme, but I definitely love seeing new names in the thread. Plus the collections people have are really cool!

I thought my booze collection shot was my best this week but apparently nobody else did.

Working on three hours of sleep Monday night, I finally got interested in this one last night at 9. I did two sort of hokie ones with stuff around the house and found a decent old one with some photographic merit.(thanks for reminding me about that one Mopsy)

I had an idea that involved a short drive and I was actually in the garage with my camera and tripod at 1130 last night when reason reared its ugly head. I want to bed. Then, while at work today, I remembered another old one I could have used. I also snuck out right after lunch and tooks some shots of another collection.

Unfortunately, I’m stuck at work until 10 (11 EST) without a card reader or photo editing software. I’ll probably submit two early and one when I get home.

My whole 10 minutes I put into this last night produced some decent shots.

Either I’m getting better at this photography thing or I got lucky 🙂

Right now I’m sitting in Wal Mart parking lot while my wife shops, listening to Celtics preseason game & waiting for the contest to go online.

Well..most people have Cd collections, DVD collections, Booze collections, camera equipment, etc…

Look around the house I bet you find a lot of things that could be “collections”

I bought my 50 off eBay. Works like a charm. The 1.8 is not a very well made lens, but they are cheap enough new.

I also bought a 70-200L lens on eBay that is absolutely gorgeous and a 18-55 that is like new.

Sucks when you have a bad experience on eBay because it hurts all of us who try to run an honest business on there.

Well now that my posting problems are resolved, I’d like opinions on the Northern Lights. Aurora Borealis doesn’t seem to me to fit the definition of “low pressure, gas discharge lighting”

If I am not mistaken they are made up mostly of nitrogen & oxygen molecules.

Both are gases.

Both are definitely under low pressure.

So?

I did this:

By taking a piece of printer paper, cutting it to the size of my lens, coloring it in with a black sharpie, & burning a jagged edge hole with a cigar tip.

I put it between the lens (28-135mm) and a UV filter.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

She actaully was almost 14. I messed up the dates.

She lived a long and happy life and had been going downhill lately.

Vet said most likeley brain tumor.

She will be missed greatly.

You save three or more copies of the same photo. Each one you adjust the exposure up down and correct before converting to JPEG.

Not an HDR expert. YMMV!
