ParticipantWB is easier to fix after. Just watch for mixed lighting conditions – that can be difficult to adjust for after the fact.
Otherwise, I find that I’m shooting more and more in full manual mode. Particularly since I got the strobes in the studio. It’s forced me to think that way more.
/but, hey. I’m lining up the TFettes now. Can’t complain too much 😀

ParticipantWith DPP, at least, you can bulk edit the RAW files – tweak one shot, and then copy, select all, paste the recipe to all the shots in the set. I’ll generally look at each shot individually still, but it gets things a lot closer out of the gate.

ParticipantJust saw this update from Mike:
Hey @Fark folk: our upstream provider is having hardware probs so there may be some connectivity issues (or at least slow email) for a bit.
Understatement of the week 😛
/can they start doing these thing on Tuesdays?

ParticipantThanks. That one’s worth popping.

ParticipantElsinore in case you missed it, can you delete my boobies rather than moving it? Not only did I forget to uncheck the preview box, I also farked the html for the pop.

Participantdangit. Delete my boobies please. =/
Does Kat hate it when you prematurely envotenate?
Particularly when I fire one off without looking first.

ParticipantThe ice is more grayscale to me soosh? I like ’em both, but were it me I’d probably go for the ravens for that reason.

ParticipantHeh. No worries Uranus. I’ll only hold you to that if one of mine don’t 😉

ParticipantWhat rav said. You don’t need to click for white balance, though. With any of the RAW editors, there should be a slider for adjusting the WB manually. If it’s jpeg…you could try adjusting the RGB channel curves individually, but I haven’t had a lot of real success that way.

ParticipantI like my third only for the humor and the brand. But it will do, for those reasons, I suppose. The other two I do really like.
I have no b’s to post. I like two of them, but I’ll save them for another viewing in another contest. They’d be in this contest, too, if they weren’t too close to one I’m going to use.
Thanks Kestrana for OBOing me!
//now just biding my time ’til the interview, 80 minutes away. Wish me luck–I could use the promotion [read that: I need to make more than I currently do].
I prefer to do three, ’cause I can – I just didn’t have anything I was really happy with. One shot this week is brand new as of the weekend, the other is from a set I did a while back – I’d intended to use a different shot but I’d already used it. Turns out I think the one I’m using works better in context anyway. I’ve got a ‘b’ from this week’s shoot – maybe I’ll post it later. It’s too similar to the one I’m using to post as well.
Good luck! I know the feeling. Sometimes I wish I could get a second job, or better, make my photography work for me 😛
Sorry I couldn’t promise to OBO. 5pm can be kinda hectic here at times, and I’m not always sure I’ll be able to post my own….
Uranus – I like your #1 shot much better. It feels sharper, and ‘feels’ blacker, even though it isn’t technically.

ParticipantIt’s still that damned third shot I’m lacking–I hate that I’ve waited for the last possible minute!
Eh. Looks like I’ll have three again this week, unless something changes. I’d rather post two good ones than three crummy ones.

ParticipantFWIW the overall impact on Japanese electronics seems to be overplayed in the media as well.

My read on it is that transportation is the major issue for most manufacturers right now. *Note: iSuppli primarily concentrates on semi manufacturing and related equipment. They don’t discuss consumer or other end-user manufacturing.
Gizmotastic has the full press releases from Canon and Nikon. From the releases, it sounds like the damage appears relatively minor but that they are still assessing the situation. The unreliable power in the area is also a factor.

ParticipantI need a follow-up. Did he photoshop faerie wings on them all?

ParticipantCongrats dude!
–edit: I was *sure* I had a winner this week, but I’ll be happy with a top ten given the competition…
