When I was a kid, I spent summers in Florida with my Grandmother. We saw lots of rainbows, and they were almost always doubles and triples. The second and subsequent bows are usually quite a bit fainter and easy to miss. I see them in the midwest, too, though.

Coolest thing I ever saw was when I was a kid in the PI. It was a ‘ring-bow’ in that it was perfectly circular and directly overhead.

If you can show diffraction in a B&W photograph…I can’t imagine how, but it’d be legal. Whether or not anyone would ‘get it’ is another problem entirely.

Hmm,maybe this is gonna be a week of 100 pictures of CDs?

I tried some different types of glass and other stuff trying to get any sort of a rainbow effect but failed miserably.

Probably not quite that bad, but there’ll be a few of them, for sure. That and rainbows…

QB, that’s pretty much what I posted about too. My rainbows were rather small and all around it was less robust in color than I would have hoped. Honestly, yours has more kick than mine so I”d go for it. Not even a single prism around her to work with, sadly (hence the CDs).

Yeah, I went the CD route for one of mine too. Hopefully it’ll be sufficiently different from the others.

I went and got a prism for this weeks contest (yay Amazon) but utterly failed to make pretty rainbows on anything… and I couldn’t even make a decent diffraction pattern indoors =/ Did end up putting it to some good use though. The resulting shots are…different.

I was originally going to shave and go as the Clockwork Orange guy (as in my sub this week) but the paparazzi thing actually got Kat to dress up this year. Plus, I think we had more fun as a team.

Heh. Kat and I dressed up as paparazzi and had one helluva time annoying everyone. Tag-team attack photography for the win 😀

Same here – my folder is empty, but I’ve got a few ideas. Dunno how they’re going to turn out though. What’s going to be really fun is squeezing that in between making dinner and doing a shoot this evening with a friend that’s going to come over and model.
