ParticipantWhat we need is a virtual dartboard…

Participantmaybe I understood it wrong. I thought that there was a week from the post date to the contest for PS’s. So my understanding was that they’d have a week from when we started posting pics to do their entries before voting starts?

ParticipantThirded on ‘whaddyagot’. The missus just presented me with some lens money, with the understanding that I should probably buy something long…

ParticipantI think doing them simultaneously, or at least a day apart would be appropriate. Ties everything together nicely.
As far as teritary sources go, I don’t see why they couldn’t be allowed so long as it’s not a major element. What that means exactly I’m not sure though.

ParticipantWell if theres kegs we should all be able to have enough alcohol in our blood that the alcohol will kill the spider’s poison.
that or we’d have a bunch of drunk spiders…
Elsinore we’d need a few months notice to be able to afford the trip, but we could probably swing wherever so long as it isn’t Cincinnati or Detroit 😉
throwing out some other ideas: San Francisco has some good places to fill up your camera’s memory card, likewise Seattle.
cost for any city is going to be variable, both from an airfare and from a hotel perspective. If there’s enough of us, we can reserve a block and save some cash on the hotel, and for both, the shoulder seasons (early fall or late spring) might give us the best bang for the buck

Participantwell if spiders are a gating factor, that rules out our house.
Pity too – I was gonna put a big keg in the kegerator and put some meat on the grill and everything.

Participantthere’s definitely something to be said for New Amsterdam too (see what I did there?)
Tix from here can be had for pretty cheap if one catches the sales, and we could possibly find a couch to surf even.
But if we’re going to B&H, we’d have to hit up Adorama too…

ParticipantGiven enough warning we could probably hit nearly anywhere with a major airport- the hubs are better for that because the airfares tend to be cheaper.
I think the major requirement should be that some sort of photography (or Farktography) outing could be factored in to the mix.

ParticipantThat’s a pretty comprehensive article, and sums up why I generally shoot RAW too.
Some additional notes they didn’t mention (for Windows – haven’t changed the laptop over to linux yet).
M$ has codecs for most cameras so that the thumbnailer and photoviewer tools work.
Picasa sucks at processing RAW images, at least on my Canon Raw Files.
I don’t have Adobe – I use Canon’s Digital Professional tools. Decent for most things though I still do some final editing in GIMP. minor (less than 90-degree) rotations, watermarking, that sort of thing. I’ve played with UFRaw on my Win Box and it seems to work pretty well, but I’m not comfortable enough using it yet.
Files are big. Really big. My 10MP 40D will create RAW files anywhere between 8-13MB each. For reference, I shot 380 pics on Sunday at a wedding, and that worked out to about 4-1/2 gigs of data.

ParticipantThat’d be great, I’d love to mu… meet you guys.
Heh. I’ll make sure and hid my vintage stapler pr0n collection then.
Not worried about the cameras, ’cause they’re *gasp* Canons 😉

ParticipantOh, I’ll be driving from Chicago to LA and back for the Morning Musume concert on July 1-5.
I’d love to pop by and meet some of you folks on the way.
Assuming my medications don’t change, I’m a one person farktography party.Uh mhuh huh What did I just watch .Other than a bunch of cute girls. 😕
I dunno, but if the tickets were remotely affordable my vote would be Tokyo…
and ‘mofo if you’re cruising out I-80 to I-5 South, you’ll be heading through town. gimme a heads up and we can at least arrange dinner.
Uranus , love to head over across the pond. I’m guessing the closest we could hope to get, even with advance warning would be London though :/

Participantlaz-long,
#1 and #2 work well for me. Something along the lines of millera9‘s suggestion might be best, with maybe referencing multiple sources if there are a couple of primary elements? Not sure how you guys normally do that.
#3, I’d certainly hate to stifle anyone PS creativity. I figure if we’re opting-in by posting photos in the thread, they should be fair-game for whatever y’all come up with, SFW or not 😉
(and for the record, I don’t think any of us are opposed to the idea at all, just first time around no one told us it was gonna happen. The pic that created the fuss was one I took of my wife and it upset her to see it altered. Water under the bridge though. I’m looking forward to this 🙂 )
-edited ’cause I can’t speel.

ParticipantI’m hoping I can find a combination of both…
But ultimately I think I’m going to be looking for stuff that wants to be ‘shopped.

ParticipantSomewhere, buried deep (about 200 posts) in, I posted a captioned version of one of soosh’s pics (no voting though). I blame the internet for making me want to caption every animal pic I see.
with 200+ posts already in the thread I didn’t really feel like throwing in my own submissions. Maybe next week…
awww you should have. You do good stuff.
And someone already lol’d one of mine last night.

Participantsoosh wrote:I think this is my favorite bird photo I’ve ever taken, but I’ve used it in farktography before.awesome!
My main b-side this week was the same duck Kat used, and I already had three I was happy with.
so this duck walks into a bar…
