Depends on one’s talents how much would vanish, I would think. ;o)

Bazinga! Haven’t seen the canyon shot yet but it’s more than likely a good one, judging on your past performances.

Barracuda and Bender, if those are your B’s, the A’s must be really cool! I’ll see in 1/2 hour when I post.

It’s the slot canyon; it’s the first one I posted. Now to see if anyone’s voting for it (I forgot to check my last work break.)

So now that it’s up, is my canyon shot acceptable enough for the theme? The lines are straight just above center horizontally, leading down the canyon, the vanishing point left of center. I figure I got time to post another if there’s a concensus that it isn’t straight enough. (hopefully it’s okay though; just wanted something a little outside of the box).

The lines don’t have to be straight, z^0; or at least I hope not (though loking at the image I plan on where they aren’t, it turns out on the ‘horizon’ line they are, so I guess I needn’t worry too much)

There was literally no discussion in the theme suggestion thread, so I offer our favorite reliable source of information, Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanishing_point

Personally, I agree we’re going to have a ton of roads, rails, and tunneled interiors. One of which will be fabulously shot, and then sublimely processed, and it will be the winner.

I’ll just hope I can at least make a good showing, as I’ve done a lot of traveling this past year (though not lately) and a lot of urban photography as well (ditto), and I’m shooting for ‘outside the box but within the realm’. The voters will sort it all out in the end.

You know, I’ve STILL yet to pop the LT cherry, Caradoc. Timesawastin’, and I’m getting nuthin that’s fitting my work schedule…

That is funny. He blinks exactly three times; twice near the beginning, once near the end. I take pictures of food all the time, but never when I’m out dining, as I so rarely go out to eat. But home-cooked stuff, sure.

My only problem I’m having with this theme is I’m apparently a one-trick pony. I’ve been lightning chasing all summer, and my best shots are from the garage rooftop at work. They’re all city views of lightning. And I know how it plays when you use three images of the same basic thing: FAIL. Trouble is; they’re my best skyline shots that I’m finding. (Well, I have one other that’s not lightning, but it’s the same skyline view).

From CISS‘s original contest suggestion beyond the title: “Leaving this one wide open to interpretation – if your image says “science” to you, I’m good with it.”

The voters, though… God only knows what they’ll agree upon!!!

Do you have photoshop or elements? I do believe ‘recovery’ will completely take care of this, and IINM, fall within the rules of farktography. And then there’s always shooting in shadow (cloudy skies or otherwise), or with the light much much closer to the horizon.

Oh sure; I was ‘on the’ Hunt at 9 pm!! What’s the point of a lightning trigger there and then!!

(when do we get to see the new Stray Cat shots? Inquiring minds…)

she must be a rugrat by now…there’s some good pikchures, too…

Yeah, well; it’s 45 shots, but stacking does wonders. We do have an astro-theme in the works where stacking is permitted? This may be among them (unless I can do better, of course).

Dammit, Caradoc, I’ve been out several times and just can’t seem to find the thunderheads displaying bolts in the daylight to pop my lightning trigger cherry! And you just go posting them away….

    //bitterly jealous//

I was out at the ‘Sup’s yeasterday; nada. Though about 1/2 hour after, there was some distant bursts (like 20 miles distant) and I got some with telephoto. Then, I went chasing a front that was just c-r-a-z-y; I finally gave up; they kept going south as fast as I was; so I set up camp near Hunt Hwy at Florence (1/2 mile S along the railroad tracks), and clicked away at them in the distance. I stacked together 45 images with some crazy lightning that (for the most part) never ‘showed’; certainly not on the ground (it’s apparent rain was falling), but it certainly light-painted the clouds, and every now and again a bolt would appear up there (there’s one or two here). And stacking for the foreground, I got some nice startrails to boot. Better bigger, of course; it’s posted on my G+ page.
