Participantdid someone say balls?
Poor thing. I’ve been there. **hugs** 😛

ParticipantNote to mods– *I* was not the one who went there. Just sayin’.
The descript kinda says “but not THE moon”. I think it’s pretty clear which one sharing that name isn’t welcome. Jellyfishes (which, also and by the way, aren’t fishes) are welcome. But maybe we should add something along the lines of ‘and no ass cheeks, either.’?

ParticipantI guess I was thinking of “circular” as being not quite the same as “round” but I guess it would be. Maybe I’m reading too literally.
I picked ’round or spherical’ in the descript to allow for two-dimensional (or practically; coins, etc) objects–elsewise we’d have a thread of nothing but balls (or nearly so.)
I think we have 3 (4?) nays for the zebra, aspidites (pun intended). I’m sure we’ll have a posterior contest at some point though… 🙂

Participant^ha!^
Technical question–what’s the advantage of a circular vs. I guess ‘linear’ polarizers?
ravnostic
Participantre aspidites zebra, I’m inclined to think of Fark as a humorous place, so I’m all for it (even though it would do really well and possibly win and though I have nothing–nothing yet–for this theme, despite my suggesting it).
But if the mods prefer a more literal interpretation, we can go that way. If such is the case, then I’m not sure the pic by Uranus (insert another butt joke here) would really fit.
I’m off to get props. I hate suggesting a theme and having nothing.

ParticipantDid someone say bacon?

ParticipantIs that roundish enough not to be a moon? 😯
You bastid. 😡 Thinking outside the box (but within it’s view–that’s a mare, no?), then that looks like a moon, but is, in fact, not a moon. Well played. 8)
So, then, who’d like to compete for 2nd place? 🙄
//edit, removed pic repost.

ParticipantHow much does it have to appear “round”?
One of the ones I’ve uploaded and prepped for Wednesday is from inside the Pantheon in Rome. There’s curves, and half of the oculus is visible. If it’s not kosher, I’ve got time to make a change. I’ve got a few dome interiors I opted against using I could go back to.
From a contest standpoint, I think that shot would be fine.
From a voting angle, though, I expect there’s going to be a lot of Star Wars fans (duh), and they might be put off by the oculus being cut off of the frame.
But it’s farking voters. So who can really say for sure?
One of my potentials is of an ancient seashore bed, which 1) looks like it’s taken on the surface of a moon (not the theme), complete with algae circles (which are round) and two rocks that each look like someone split a moon into 1/2’s by heat, then let theme solidify on the rocky ground. sure it fits–but ‘I wonder what the voters will think’ is always among my final selection criteria.
I’m not one to get too picky about the devil-in-the-details ‘rules’ (within reason, of course). If it speaks of ‘that’s notta moon’ to you, go for it.

Participant+1!

ParticipantI think that would work, it just says that the object just has to be round, not appear as a circle in the picture.
This. Round-‘ish’ even–a perfect circle isn’t required. There are boxes of which to think outside.

ParticipantIf there’s a ‘bulb’ setting and a way to mount a shutter release, that’s the way to go (bulb holds the shot till you let go-the shutter release cable, corded or remote, keeps away the camera shake).
Elsewise, try a zoom lens–the trails will move more in 60 seconds on zoom levels.

ParticipantNot unless you took them yourself 😉
I asked for a copy of the mug shots, but they said no. Guess I’ll have to wait for them to show up on the smoking gun. I knew I should have worn my “I love midget porn” tee shirt.
/Turn to the right.
Mine never showed up. It’s been six years now, so I’m not really holding out. I was in my dress blue (cracker jack) uniform, too.
I do have mine; and I discovered that after a night spent in jail, with a picture taken from a high angle at 7am after being awake for 24 hours, everyone looks like a three-named serial killer. This copy was attached to my personal effects ‘package’. Once wrote a very funny blog about the experience. Night of my 20th H.S. reunion, 2006) (the charges, incidently, were dropped).

ParticipantI love technology. And inventiveness. Very cool. I imagine it will evolve into better imagery.

ParticipantHi y’all I’m jan. queenbee suggested I start trying farktogrophy. So I threw one in.
Happy to have you join us–welcome!
ravnostic
ParticipantWell that’s a bummer…two scarlet R’s, one is one I’d voted on before checking the list. 🙁
