//I linked it on G+ just today U-Man. I think the only difficulty would be in getting used to keeping the string taut. I wonder if a string loop wouldn’t do better–additional horizontal hold–just have to watch the stance.

Went to the zoo today, last resort. My original plan, having a really nice (I think) road runner picture by crazy-random-happenstance, was to go out east Tues. morning, and get a coyote where I know they happen to frequent. Having them both, I was going to toss breadcrumbs atop my brother’s signage for his business (ACME something-or-another), and wait for a token bird to land.

Since I’d kinda felt down about my chances, I was going to post each with it’s token latin name (Road Runner: Fasticus Birdicus; Pigeon: Aviatorus Decoyious; or some such) for the humor angle, at least for a fair show.

Woke up late, though, so went to plan B–the Zoo. And I got some decent picks, I’m happy with them. I think this will be a VERY competitive contest, and there will be LOTS of voting for a great many images, so I don’t expect much–but I’ll at least be happy with my shots, instead of grudgingly accepting.

So on the map at the zoo, “Coyotes” were listed, and I beelined it there (I still liked the idea) right away. But I couldn’t find it, so I asked a zoo guy where they were. Turns out the pair were brought in some 18-19 years ago, and they both died this summer. (“Where’s the coyotes?” “Underground, I imagine.”)

It just wasn’t meant to be.

Thanks for the congrats, all! A nice birthday present. 😀 Oddly enough, my lowest ranked entry this week is my worst in the rolling 12 weeks. Probably to keep me humble. 😉

I’ve always liked the image, though–and that’s what counts (for me).

Sicing polar bears on fellow Farktographers isn’t against the rules of Farktography, but it probably would be considered in bad taste.

Farktographers taste bad? Not like chicken?

    Learn something new every…. 😉

It’s true; with farkers you never know. And I have my 3 pics (well, 1 taken, two planned) if/when I’m not attacked by photogenic bears. But in that case, I’m going with the ‘humor’ angle.

//Off to Colorado now, bai. Hoping to make the Goosenecks by dawn.

I don’t expect they will do well, either. I’m just trying to fill out my submissions, think outside the box, etc. Of CO, with aspidites picture profile, I won’t even have a chance in hell at 1, 2, or 3, and the rest of you mean I likely won’t even be in the top 50 either, so I’m just going to have fun.

It really is all about the fun. I don’t think the ‘rest of us’ have a chance at 1,2, or 3 either, with aspidites portfolio. 🙄

…unless I happen to be attacked by a bear in Colorado this weekend, and capture it’s approach. And survive. And get someone to bring me my camera and laptop and various accessories in the hospital. And not be too doped up to post process. And not be in reconstructive surgery during the contest posting period.

…that’s a lot of ‘ands’ to overcome, not withstanding the original premise.

//I’d accept a moose attack, if it comes down to it. Elk, even. By gods, I hope I get to photograph something bigger than a bread box. 🙂

I don’t object either, though I agree with CISS regarding the competition angle. If allowed, though, I’d also suggest that Kermit–is a domesticated frog.

Thanks. I’m just not on my game; woke up late, hadn’t yet decided on images, posted in haste…a rough way to start ones 44th year!

Is this a subtle way to get us to say happy b-day? cause if it is Happy birthday.

Damn my voting finger is gonna get one hell of a workout this week!

meah. I turned 43, ending that year and starting the next. It was really just a side comment. Not like a landmark year (50 for example). But thanks just the same!!

//it was nice when 1/2 the crew I work with broke out in song and wished me a happy one. Totally unexpected. I’ve been working on interpersonal relationships–I guess I’m getting better.

That aside, however, I’ve proudly pointed out to my brother to point out to his daughter (my god-daughter, age 4) that HER picture is currently winning–because, of course, she’s beautiful and everyone loves her. That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it. 😀

There are some really good shots this week–aren’t there always? I’m always so impressed by everyone’s craft. I particularly like olavf‘s entries, and plama‘s selfy I love. The same above brother wrote to me recently and said, “damn, you notch up your game, and everyone else notched it up further“.

    ayep. MTE.

Elsinore, would you be kind enough to delete my Blerticus post where the title is misformated on the page? Thanks!

I got 6 out of 10 on boobage. Which, considering my experience with them (NTTAWWT), is pretty good I think.

I blew it, 4/10. Fun playing, though. Wonder how we could work this into some sort of theme?

Just had a thought; what about a shot in which I’m airborne? You can see a piece of the plane along the bottom edge (not that I’d go with it, but just asking).

I’m really happy U-man won in the end. While I like my lightning picture, I really didn’t think it was 1st-place material. Too grainy, too sodiumy, not even sure how it got 2nd. But I’ll take it. 🙂

I wasn’t suggesting that as a submision. It was stitche together from 3 pictures and none of them are airborne. That was just what I started the day off with. It was a good day.

    This one is airborne.

    😯

I’ll just put this DSLR thingy away and go play in the sandbox with the other tater tots.

All I got is a flock of seagulls.
