ParticipantWow, RCMacStudent and Millera9 – I’m glad to hear that you two are relatively OK. I hope things stay that way.

ParticipantOff to TFD I go…soon.
swampa, I read the /. thread which echoes what you said. My anxiety is eased (not that I ever had much anyway).

ParticipantSalvation Jane sounds very pot’ish. Does the DEA know about that field?

ParticipantWe’re at 19971 right now (0843 CST). Maybe today. Maybe.

ParticipantI got caught up in the moment and made a booboo. Could a mod kindly de-votenate my 2nd entry?
/’cause it is a repeat.

Participantbuh buh buh buh buh….

ParticipantWatermarking is not without precedent in Farktography. My approach to this theme was going to be unwatermark the actual entry, but watermark the larger sizes. But I haven’t watermarked yet.

ParticipantThese are all on crop-sensors, right? So that 10 -> 16mm (full-frame equiv, assuming 1.6 crop-ratio), right? Just curious.
Oh, and Yay, PPG is back.

ParticipantI sort of like previews – if you look at my flickr stream, you can see what I’ll be entering for Powers of Two. My thinking is that if I throw down the gauntlet early, it may inspire someone. And that leads to a better overall theme. Yay!
Like Flavivirus‘s reptile. That’s a darn nice image. I may need to up my ante a bit… And I’ll probably adopt the aspect ratio convention as well.

Participant(ignore the current FSM fails at making the thumbnails).
fails are gone.
I’m so cool

ParticipantI think Curious‘ approach would work if the theme was Before and After or something like that – some sort of multi-image theme that clarifies the “how many images per entry” rule. And I get the joke regarding the “Two” – Bridge 1.0 and Bridge 2.0, which is clever (and, given the wording in the caption, I expected to see the top image be an entry in the first Bridges theme, which would have been pretty clever, too, but the FSM doesn’t show that). I don’t think that the entry-under-discussion is within the rules, but I’m not pushing for strict moderation or anything like that…
Artistically, my feeling is that an image should stand on its own – no textual or visual caption – which is why I rarely caption (but next week, well, the caption is too good to not use it I feel so dirty already). The entry-under-discussion (which I assume is the 2nd image) could have stood on its own, but alas, it does not have that chance.
From an FSM POV, the FSM will (IIRC) extract the first img link in an entry, so in this case, the broken bridge will be preserved (ignore the current FSM fails at making the thumbnails).

ParticipantThe votes remain once it hits main page, so it doesn’t really matter if they vote for themselves before it goes live or afterwards. For a while there there wasn’t much time from when the contest was added until it went green so no-one really had a chance to vote before it went live, but the last few weeks there has been a gap of a few hours before it went green and voting was disabled.
/Too much time spent checking to see if someone voted for me 😛
Huh, the more you know…
schnee
ParticipantJust for grins and giggles, I just now clicked on “View Voting Results”. While voting for yourself is a time-honored approach to getting FSM’ed, be advised that any votes are wiped out by Fark.com once the thread hits the mainpage (that’s correct, correct?). And the FSM only pays attention to the main page (the FSM is too cheap to shell out for a TF account).
/yeah, I know, but that would ruin the humor.
