I don’t have anything planned for next weekend, I should be able to head down there.

Most modern electronic doodads will work fine with just a plug adapter. Check the label on the back and if it says 110-240v you should be good to go.

Most likely that won’t work, but most places that develop film will scan it for you too. High res scans can be extremely expensive, but sufficient for web posting shouldn’t be.

Any scanner with a film function will work.

Any film scanner will work *as long as it accepts 120 film*. Some do not, so if it’s 35mm filmstrips only, you’re out of luck.

I think I’ve figured out what I want for the legs, but I have no idea what I need to get for the head. Any opinions on quick release versus the screw mount and ball head versus pan head?

If you can spend a decent chunk of money, get a ballhead. If you’re going cheap, go with a pan head. Cheap pan heads can still be functional, but a ballhead that doesn’t move smoothly and lock down tight is basically worthless.

It’s kind of the same deal with quick releases – if it’s not 100% secure, you really don’t want to have one, but there’s not much that can go wrong with a 1/4″ thread.

(aside from image size – I’m guessing its raw image data is significantly larger than a normal camera).

If Thom Hogan (http://bythom.com/) is to be believed, they’re using something on the order of 200 imaging sensors in the camera per pixel on the final image (0.09mp output from a 16mp sensor)

It’s been 35 years since I used a rangefinder camera.

You’re not suggesting that it has anything as sophisticated as a rangefinder on it? I don’t even know if the scale focusing mechanism they do have really does much…

Hmm, I hope I didn’t lead you down the wrong path. I tried using the macro flashes today, and it turns out the slaves do not like full sunlight *at all*. I may have to rig something up with PC cords or something….

You can edit it to add more options.

Where? The initial post doesn’t seem to have the poll options any more, and I don’t see any other edit button.

Is it from the small Powershot sensor?

Pretty much that plus he’s at the wide end of the lens – if you check the exif it was shot at 6mm and wide open at F2.0

I was able to whip up something quick and dirty that may help here.

    Thanks!

Or maybe, damn, I *have* used that one already….

Basically it just comes down to Canon shooters being agents of Satan…. 🙂

I should add that I am actually speaking from experience here 😉
