If I pay tribute to The Butthole Surfers how long do you think my timeout will be?

About as long as mine if I decided to do the Barenaked Ladies. 😛

Seriously. Thousands of nerds at his disposal and it took a year(?) to get a tag… 😯

No doubt….Farktography is like the redheaded stepchild of Fark contests lol

    /I’m a stepchild
    //not redheaded

Well I’m a redhead (thanks Nice ‘n Easy) so perhaps it’s my fault? Seriously though guys, I’m waaaay open for suggestions. Do we take up a collection and send him cases upon cases of heineken?

For the record i make yummy margaritas; they’re blue and come in my official World Market margarita glasses. Salt or no, your choice, but always with a heavy hand on the tequila bottle.

But in the interest of not skewing the results, and because I never got around to commenting in the other thread, here are the things to consider if we’re discussing opening a Sunday contest:

    1. Drew’s approval. Without that we gots nothing. He’s been absolutely wonderful about Farktography on so many levels. However does he deem it an important enough aspect of FARK to add an extra contest? Based on the fact that we haven’t been rolled in inclusively I don’t know – but it’s a question worth asking.

    2. Who will be around to post the boobies? If ‘bort, like many of us, use the weekends for photo shooting, errands, and life in general who would be around to do it *every* weekend? In my humble opinion it’s easier to schedule during the week (correct me if I’m wrong).

    3. Interest level. If we have too many contests per month will people’s interest level be maintained or will individuals just get burned out? 2 contests a week? Personally speaking my life has been *CRAZY* lately. Of course it might just come down to choosing one contest or the other, or both if you have the time.

I’m sure there’s something I’m leaving out but I’ll think about it more this afternoon. But I am not completely opposed to a once a month extra special bonus Blossom episode as long as 1 and 2 above are satisfied.

After my fighting with HDR this week, all I have to say is, “Thank GOODNESS! And pass the cutlery!”

heh, amen to that! i just hope i make the time to set up the stuff i have in mind – should be a very entertaining contest next week!

I third that emotion. I can’t remember the last time my brain felt so bent. Forks seems so simple after this week…

    Thanks Bob!

I for one will miss the HDR contest and eagerly await another- unlike some people.

If no one objects we can throw in a random HDR element every now and again. Like for the upcoming autumn we can allow entries, but maybe then not again for a few weeks. Would everyone be okay with that or ?

Heya — just a heads up that I’ve finally made my HDR tutorial. I make my HDRs using only Photoshop in most cases — I’m not a huge fan of Photomatix. 🙂 The tutorial is here:

Only one more week before the HDR contest… woohoo!

thanks for posting this chakalakasp. now I can learn from the master. mwuahahhaa. *touches downturned pinky to the corner of my mouth*

i wonder though in the case of trifecta – hell should we have some sort of prize for that?

First I want to say “Hi” to everyone. My name is Steve and I’m sorta new to photography.

Hi Steve! Welcome to farktography. Thanks for sharing your first attempt; turned out way better than mine 😛

Are you sure it’s the LaCie device? It could just be the HDD it contains. Those can be swapped easily enough…

heh, the only thing i’m sure of is when i plug it in and press the button, nothing happens. what is this ‘hdd’ and how can i check it?

    😛

the hdd is the hard (disk) drive located inside the external case. if the external hard drive you had won’t turn on it’s one of three possibilities; the power adapter for the drive may have died, the enclosure itself is broken, or the hard drive inside died. but i would think if the hard drive died the enclosure would still turn on.

if you decide to just chuck the old one make sure you get the right kind of enclosure. a lot of the newer hard drives are SATA whereas the older ones are just PATA (commonly known as IDE). so if you buy a SATA hdd make sure the enclosure is made for SATA or supports both formats.

i have a Penguin SATA external enclosure and my biggest complaint was one of the screws came loose in the front so now the cover just kind of hangs there, but YMMV.

oh and I hate Maxtor drives. especially the ones that come in Dell PowerEdge servers 🙂 high rate of failure. Western Digital ftw!
