ParticipantThanks guys!
XenPix
ParticipantYeah, that’s where it is. The soft brush option has just made it worse though. Will have to try and get some compressed air.

ParticipantI also have nothing 🙁
I found it really, REALLY hard to think of anything to photograph for “hope”. I did have an idea about Spes (goddess, associated with hope), but I don’t have kids and didn’t have any dolls to do the job with.
I have a bird shot too, heh. It’s a baby bird though. New life was the best I could think of.
I’ll also be posting late, so we’ll see how that goes. Not getting up at 1am for one picture. :p

ParticipantElsinore – This is going to be fun 🙂
I’m carefully reading the manual before I put my first film in. I figured I’d ruin at least one if I didn’t!
XenPix
ParticipantElsinore – I’m so dense, I didn’t even think of that. I can at least get an idea if it is close to accurate or not that way. Cheers!
Sleeping – You rock. I was hoping to find a manual somewhere, you just saved me some work. Thank you!

ParticipantIt’s the YashicaMat LM, I had a quick check on the light meter, it’s working, but I’m not sure if the accuracy has been affected. I don’t have a light meter so I can’t check that. I was figuring I’d use the first film as a kind of test run, noting all the settings and such, to see if it needed the use of an independent meter.
I got the 120s because I didn’t know it could take other films, I’ll look into the 220. Thanks!

Participanti’ve got an antique rollie (i think) sitting on my shelf but i’ve never tried to do anything with it – i keep meaning to futz around with it but never get around to it.
That was me until I got the film yesterday.
😉

ParticipantIf I didn’t like my pictures enough to vote for them, I wouldn’t submit them. Obviously. 😉

ParticipantI just got some film for my TLR (my dad’s old TLR at least) which I’ve never used before, I’d love to develop that (mostly so the developing people don’t laugh at my first attempts with it!). Not sure the cat would appreciate the smell of the chemicals, and I’d have to do it in the cupboard under the stairs. Do they do mini kits? 😉

ParticipantI feel your pain, almost.
When my first 400D started showing an error, I was in a panic that I would be without it. Thankfully Calumet just told me to (a) ring Canon to see if they wanted to repair it, (b) when they said no told me to box it all back up and they would send me another one straight out and swap them.
I’m far too lazy to fill out these things, so I would have just taken it in and acted all surprised that I hadn’t filled it in if they asked why it wasn’t done. Lazy is real helpful sometimes.
Hope you get it back all nice and shiny soon.
XenPix
ParticipantThat’s what I figured, wanted to check just in case though, because someone said about new shots.
At least I get to sleep a full night tonight. 😛
XenPix
ParticipantSee, now I’m all confused.
I wasn’t going to enter, because I’ve only been in three contests, and they weren’t the best shots in the world. But can we enter new stuff as well? (Obviously not to enter again as previously suggested, but as a once off as per normal.)

ParticipantThe colour combinations and the light on the rose pictures are really nice. It’s a shame you couldn’t get a darker green background on that second rose, I really liked that one.

ParticipantWhy do you shoot with your glasses on? I’ve got the diopter on mine set to the astigmatism in my left eye (left-eyed weirdos unite!) so that I can shoot without my stupid glasses on. My biggest problem is that my ridiculous nose touches the screen and leaves a nice big smudge!
/Thanks for the explanation of the ‘*’ button btw!
My left eye didn’t work for 18 years (or at least my brain didn’t listen to it), 3D was a very strange experience. Still, 18 years of seeing in 2D tends to help you work out the composition of a photo. 😉
I stick my right eye into the viewfinder (since it works proper) and still get big nose smudges on my screen. I’m waiting for bogey trails on the dang thing when I get a cold. That would be VERY unpleasant.

ParticipantI can see manual focusing with a camera and viewfinder that was designed for it, with a split prism focusing aid or whatever, but with the stock focusing screen on these SLRs designed for autofocus? I can’t see anyone getting sharp shots consistently, and I’d rather eliminate every variable that I can that could keep me from getting the shot. Most of the stuff I shoot is moving subjects where I’m really capturing moments instead of capturing scenes, and if I blow the focus on one of those shots it ain’t happening again.
My split prism got a bit dodgy after a few years, so I learnt to pick the focus from the whole screen so that kinda helped me with the DSLR. I guess it’s just what I’m used to, and the autofocus always tries to pick out the things I don’t want, so instead of getting frustrated, I just turn it off.
