It seems of reasonable quality at this point, I’ll find a way to break it if there’s a weak spot. So far I’m pretty happy with it.
It’s *very* stiff, and will couple vibration from the ground to the camera: see http://www.flickr.com/photos/pjern/2936772379/ for details of how I found out.Try standing the monopod on your foot. I sometimes have to do that anyway to get the height I need to look through the viewfinder, and I noticed it helped with vibration on road edges as traffic goes by. I’ve never tried it in the stands though.
March 5, 2008 at 2:54 pm #15420boringolddougParticipantCan you crop it out and still have a good image?
March 4, 2008 at 3:16 pm #15156boringolddougParticipantMofo Have you seen this? http://www.redbubble.com/people/boyerm/art/643868-2-standoff
February 28, 2008 at 12:27 pm #15415boringolddougParticipantThank you all. I guess I was most concerned that there was something I missing in the camera. You have allayed my concerns and pointed me to where to go learn more.
Nice to have a world full of good photographers to ask questions of.
February 28, 2008 at 1:32 am #15413boringolddougParticipantThis is not about measuring the image, just learning. It was spurred by posting the image to Red Bubble and receiving a response that it was too small to be made into any saleable products because the image is too small. Made me wonder why and whether it was alterable. I really don’t care. I tried something new and am pleased with the result, but I didn’t understand why some images are small file sizes, and some are large and what a photographer can do to affect it all.
Film was easier that way.February 27, 2008 at 2:39 pm #15410boringolddougParticipantOh and I guess the next question is, is there a way to make a simple image and keep it at a large file size?
I’m thinking specifically of uploading it and receiving a response that nothing can be done with it because the file size is too small.February 27, 2008 at 2:37 pm #15409boringolddougParticipantThank you. I suspected something of that nature might be the reason, but it was really only at the level of a notion.
February 27, 2008 at 12:43 pm #15338boringolddougParticipantThis guy was always hanging around my mother’s trailer in the trailer park. He’ll take a nut from your hand.
why would I have only one of my nuts in my hand? why would I offer it to a squirrel ?
Hey, you’re a grown up now. Figure out your own psychoses.
February 22, 2008 at 12:41 am #15321boringolddougParticipantPeople are un-natural? That explains a lot.
February 21, 2008 at 2:36 pm #15288boringolddougParticipantOh and when you flush it, hold it with the lens down and spray up, so the tendency is for the fluid to run off, not into the lens.
February 21, 2008 at 2:35 pm #15287boringolddougParticipantLinguine Flush it with a generous amount of lens cleaner fluid first. After it dries use a blower. Don’t brush or wipe unless you have to. If you brush it, brush it right near the mouth of a vacuum cleaner, so anything you move gets pulled away from the lens.
February 21, 2008 at 3:57 am #15280boringolddougParticipantI had trouble getting anything clear, there’s a condensation like haze. I’m guessing my camera doesn’t like -40.
February 13, 2008 at 10:10 pm #14908boringolddougParticipantLike a stilleto to the heart the pin prick jags of your barbed wit as you spur each other to each new apex, beaking off and snagging each other at the tip of each new cusp, my joy as a punner reaches a new summit each tine I sign in.
Thank you.
February 9, 2008 at 12:16 am #15089boringolddougParticipantIf I ever do grow up, I want to be a photographer just lke soosh.
February 8, 2008 at 4:09 am #14854boringolddougParticipantWell, I couldn’t get to this in time to enter, but I still wanted to play. If anyone wants to se what I came up with, they’re on my Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/dughugs
