ParticipantWonderful. And well deserved, in my opinion.

ParticipantI love Blackfade‘s pic, but suspect that it’s ‘shopped…..anyone else?
I’ve never seen water droplets (or any other liquid) flatten vertically like that in a natural setting.
I don’t see what you mean. Where are the droplets flattened vertically?
Do you mean to the right of the stem?
It looks to me like a frozen pepper in ice chips in humid air. Moisture condenses on pepper, some freezes frost-like, some begins to flow and freezes – possibly in layers. A lot like stopping too many times with groceries in the trunk then carrying now frozen produce into the kitchen where you can be singed by the reaction of a spouse who told you specifically to get the produce last.
Or am I missing something?

ParticipantAn intrepid adventure but the photos are stunning. Thanks for sharing them.

ParticipantMofo, you make me laugh. I was griping about NO snow because we were supposed to get a blizzard Monday night and yesterday and I was really hoping for some cool road shots with deep drifts and wheel ruts and stuff. But it fizzled. Cold as … and windy as … , but not much snow and nothing worth shooting.
But at least I was not tangled in napkins.

ParticipantMan I wish I had a time machine. There was a photo I missed nack in the early 80’s. I didn’t carry my camera at work those days, and couldn’t that day anyway cause I was on my way to court. Queens’ Bench yet, so I was in dress uniform. It was snowing heavily, but warm. The roads were 8 to 12 inches deep in very wet snow. Traffic sprayed it everywhere and everything was filthy with it. At one intersection was an old style family corner store, the kind with the door at the corner of the building. The wet snow had sprayed over 4 feet up the walls, the sidewalks beside it and the steps were heavy with it. And around the corner of the building, over the door was a huge banner which said ” Slush available.”

ParticipantAbout 10 years ago I sent my second son to camp with a disposable camera and he saw a shot over the lake while he was being yelled at to be somewhere else so he ran over, snapped the shot, and wasn’t even sure he looked through the viewfinder.
Next summer I entered a shot I was really proud of in the Red River exhibition photo contest. Mike thought that was cool so he entered his lake shot. He beat me. He won an honourable mention. I was only accepted for exhibition. As said by others. It ain’t just the camera.

ParticipantHow cool is that, I was just eying up a utility pole on my street to photograph. Now to take the picture I want without my neighbors or the cops thinking I am nuts.
Oh yeah, I can see that … “It’s ok officer I’m a Farktographer.” “What, no, no, not that, Fark.” No It’s not porn, it’s just for fun.” “Well no, there’s no prizes in this contest, just votes.” ” No. Votes, from the other Farktographers.” “No really, I’m not some kind of peeping Tom pervert.” “Well not when I’m taking photos anyway.” “Really officer, I’m not making this up there’s really a contest, and it’s on a website run by a guy named Drew who spills beer on the servers a lot, and people make fun of the news, and there’s this squirrel with really big nuts, and we take photos and photoshop other people’s pictures, and just, like have fun, you know?”
Let me know how it goes, ok?

ParticipantWell, patching your self up and doing what you had to do impresses me. Ballsy. But I just have to ask … what exactly were you doing when you bit it, and was it worth it?
A quick and thorough recovery, sir.

ParticipantA big consideration in my purchase was Pentax’s anti shake system. After spending 2 hours climbing a mountain last year, I found out that this 51 year old body needs an anti shake system at the top.
