Ok… gonna double post here – just checking out this bibliostats thing (awesome btw) and this contest marks my third Farktograversary! Go me!
December 8, 2011 at 9:39 am #42385bucky_baconParticipantHooray for our new Boobies!
December 2, 2011 at 9:27 pm #42344bucky_baconParticipantOh hey I have something for this!
September 2, 2011 at 9:05 pm #40405bucky_baconParticipantIt’s spelled “Roethlisbungler” or “Fumblesberger” or “Rapelessberger” or “Ulcerberger” if you’re a Steelers fan.
In my neck o’ the woods we go with “Roofiesberger.”
September 1, 2011 at 12:56 am #40870bucky_baconParticipantI know that I’m not helping the issue by saying this, but… this is really a problem? I like (liked?) farktography because it was fun, and a community of great people, and while each theme is a contest there really isn’t any need for competition. I think that the current system is great. It’s a very nice acknowledgement. If you don’t eventually ‘win’ in the end, you can take pride in having a contending entry throughout the majority of the contest. With voters being what they are (which is always funny to say ’cause they are mostly US), having that recognition is as good as a win in my book. Although that’s probably because I’ve been on the went-the-wrong-way of those announcements more often than I’ve won!
ANYHOW… I’m not trying to look down on anyone, but this is another case where we don’t need to feel so sensitive about a fun hobby. After all, we’re all on farking Fark for farking Fark’s sake. Lighten up?
Sorry (truly) to not be more helpful/constructive, but my opinion is that it’s not broken and you’re doing a quite nice (albeit unnecessary) gesture. Short of being able to close the threads that is the best that you can do. So THANK YOU Els!
June 22, 2011 at 11:39 pm #36358bucky_baconParticipantYeah, it’s a no.
June 22, 2011 at 11:13 pm #36360bucky_baconParticipantWell it kinda looks like mountains, amirite? Plus it’s all I got.
June 22, 2011 at 11:05 pm #36362bucky_baconParticipantJust checking, but the Grand Canyon wouldn’t be considered “mountains” would it?
June 3, 2011 at 1:03 am #37918bucky_baconParticipantWell, crap… now I’m wishing that I woulda posted more banksy.
And ennuipoet I’d say it’s the art themselves. Some will have voted just for OMGz it’s banksy, or for others the style will stand out even if they don’t know the artist. To be fair, the examples that you mention don’t have much to do with proper photography unless you account for exposure, color, etc. But I feel like mine is essentially a snapshot. But of all the ones that I had I felt that it had the best message. So I went w/ that one.
I do like the way yours is framed though, fwiw.
May 30, 2011 at 1:26 am #37963bucky_baconParticipantAs I sit out the downpour, I remembered this guy. Would another version of this be in the theme spirit?
Yeah! I remember your story with that guy. That was one of my earliest inspirations for being more outgoing with photography. I think about it every time I’m laying down shooting something.
May 29, 2011 at 1:37 am #37972bucky_baconParticipantGaaah I fear that Banksy pieces will be popular, but it’s tough to not want to use them.
Dilemma.
May 25, 2011 at 11:22 pm #38260bucky_baconParticipantI noticed that there were plenty of “big cat” entries in the first contest. That’s all I really have for this one. Are the photos of big kitties ok for this one too?
April 28, 2011 at 11:47 am #39398bucky_baconParticipantbucky_bacon – OMG that last pic is squeeeeee!
And hi, nice to see you! 😉
Thanks! 🙂 She is a stinker.
Nice to see you too, again! I should stop taking these vacations :
April 5, 2011 at 5:38 pm #39114bucky_baconParticipantRav – I like the first one better. The detail on the bee is nice and the color in the background is lovely.
Yep, what she said.
April 3, 2011 at 9:18 pm #40038bucky_baconParticipantOh that kicks ass.
