ennui’s is fine, I think it’s a scene from Buffy the Vampire Slayer (never saw it, so not entirely sure)?

Mine, I’d avoid at work. I’m not sure if that’s exactly what he’s saying, but it’s an old (in internet meme terms) clip from a Fox news program where one anchorman says that to another on air. No one to my knowledge has ever figured out what he was trying to say or meant by it.

fluffybunny, LOL! You’ve put waaay too much thought into it, my friend. The rest of us have long ago given up on trying to figure out Fark voters, but you go right ahead and keep f***ing that chicken. 😆

ennuipoet, what the heck did I just watch?!? Are you sure it’s just Jameson talking? 😉

I think we’ve got a fairly regular group of voters, each with their own preferred time that they usually vote, which is why it nearly always follows the same basic curve. Some of that is likely tied to time zones – think about peak voting periods in the US and then project those times to Europe or Asia.

As orionid said, a big chunk of the voting’s done Thursday; but some voters (myself included, but it varies quite a bit) wait until Sat to give everyone who’s going to enter a chance at it. I don’t think there are a lot of Sat voters, so each spike there is likely an individual voter (or at least a very small group).

In what aspect, Elsinore? This one pretty much followed the average curve almost exactly. Our average total votes since 10/27/2010 was 1909 and this one ended at 1923.

I did find the difference in participation and voting for the seasons greetings contest between this year and last year a bit strange. This year the contest actually started a day earlier (relative to Christmas) but we had about half of the contestants and entries and about a third of the votes of the previous year. Not sure what’s up with that.

The last average or better contests were Graves & That’s No Moon, but I attributed that to contest topics and time of year.

Congrats to orionid on the individual win and to U-Man on the combined win. The Weekly Reports post has been updated with the latest stats. I’m not even going to bother with the combined vote results for this one.

Dude, I don’t really know what to say other than to agree with you that that really really sucks. Assuming you have to do that, is that going to be enough to get you caught back up? I’d hate to think you had to do that now only to face the same situation just a little farther down the road.

On the film cheerleading side, the nice thing about that is that I think it would have to sharpen your “get it right the first time” skills. No more of my technique – shoot a ton knowing that a few will come out decently. And then think how awesome your shots will be once you get that 5D & L glass!

Yeah, that was mostly directed at chup and Kes as they were wondering why GoDaddy would support such a bill. I wondered that myself until I found that key piece of info.

According to what I’ve read, the key piece of info y’all are lacking is that GoDaddy helped author the SOPA bill and they’re explicitly EXEMPT from it, so really, they don’t give a sh!t about how it affects other ISPs. Of course, after the backlash and the tons of people leaving them in protest, they backtracked and reversed their position.

Ooh, forgot about that. Sorry, Curious, nothing personal. Just a little ticked this year over the championship game and the C-USA champ being ousted from the Liberty Bowl in favor of Vandy.

I’d guess it’s their support of SOPA. I’d be right behind you if it wasn’t such a huge effort and I didn’t already have hosting paid up for another year.

Well, can we at least all agree that the SEC sucks? 😆

The Big Ten always gets voted down, regardless of wins?

And deservedly so. Everyone knows the Big 12 is where it’s at. 🙂

// Actually, my alma mater is C-USA, so I don’t wanna hear no “we get no respect” talk from anybody! We’re like the red-headed stepchild of conferences.

Holy Fark! I did not know this existed: http://www.fark.com/top/farktography/

Hmm… Not sure what they’re counting, but the numbers look to be off. For example, in all time wins U-Man’s had 52 vs Fark’s 50, orionid’s had 15 vs 12, I’ve had 5 vs 4, …

That’s too bad, Zero. But I’m gonna need you to coordinate with zincprincess – when y’all both sit out a contest, I get no Z in my pager for the Entries by Contestant and that’s just not right. 😆

I was saying pretty much what sleeping said with the extension that almost everything (aside from curves) you can do in your RAW-to-JPG converter could also be set in-camera so that the JPG that comes SOOC has those settings already applied, which I think kinda muddles the intent of SOOC. So, you could have a SOOC JPG that’s highly saturated, overly sharpened and greatly contrast-enhanced, which would meet the contest requirements technically but not in intent. Bottom line, I understand the intent, I guess I was just pointing out the possibilities for discussion.

// Don’t mind me, it’s all likely to be moot for me anyway as I don’t foresee time to get out and shoot new until mid Feb at the earliest.
