I think it’s the 2nd longest running thread in farktography history (after the farkamera).

I’m a little busier than I like, but I’m doing pretty good. I just picked up a 400mm Spiratone which is a heck of a lot nicer than I expected.

I haven’t seen you around much lately, anything new?

but when i do i say,

sorry, you guys were too photogenic to pass up.. email me and i’ll send you the pic gratis, i wont use it for anything myself

public place, okay to shoot, but expectation of privacy means if you zero in on anyone he can call a cop and -with a court order- get the picture back

same laws that ‘protect’ you are the ones that upskirt photographers use to get off the hook here and there

That is too bad. Now, perhaps those entries will be permanently excised from the FSM, right? 8)

I’ve consider doing that in the past (especially since I’ve worn the “R”), but haven’t gotten around to it. Personally I think the best thing is to get the Fark mods to excise the entries and then the FSM will take care of itself. Don’t ‘Shoppers devotenate recycled enties?

in fact i have intentionaly posted a ‘recycled photograph’ with voting off when i though my best image was one i had posted.

but not intentionaly, and not since the fsm is up i can look at mu stuff to make sure.. i wouldnt want anyone to think i didnt have a big enough stock to have an entry every week

and when i say big stock and entry, you know darn well what i mean

logomancer used a shot of his grandmother to win a contest, then a shot that was just about the same to win another contest, both great shots, but if someone sees him posting those and doesn’t have the ‘photographic’ memory to know they were different, then you might think it was okay to repost, even though the rules said otherwise

plus, this is fark anyways

in front of the car i see a patch of light, if you’d taken the pcture with the car in that light you could have shot with your lens open more

I thought about that but I was in the TN/NC mountains and I didn’t feel comfortable standing on the edge of a 200ft or so drop off. I’ll have to keep that in mind. More light, more practice. Why can they just load the professional photographer disk into me? Oh wait this isn’t the matrix, or is it?

what is the proper order? I would think order-by-votes, then -by-timestamp and finally -by-loginname (but that third ordering really would be rare).

Order by votes.

if you make the 2ndary ‘by timestamp’ it will increase the desire to enter at 5 sharp, name might be better

classified ad section, your company pay some modest fee that goes to farktography.net and get to list your company’s website, money that comes here pays for name renewal, hosting fees, and since other companies can post an ad, you wouldn’t be percieved as an exclusive sponser -which is good for you

folks looking for a stock company would be happier talking to someone who at least indirectly supports the coolest amateur photography websit in history

you do know that this is the coolest amateur photography website in history don’t you…

just a general opinion question – i have some shots that i consider to be portraits even though it’s not a photo of someone’s face. for example – a ballet dancer’s feet. or a pregnant woman’s belly. ok, those are the two that i have. 😛

what are peoples’ thoughts on that? i feel that it captures the essence of what that person is doing at that time – their character and the place they are in their life at that moment, which (to me) qualifies it as a portrait.
