Participanthehe, thanks U-Man.
Can we do some of the classics more, or soon? I’m thinking of like Wallpaper This and a couple of others I saw in there that were really awesome sounding or had a lot of participation or something, but were also really fun to do, and all of which I missed out on because I wasn’t a member or aware of what was going on at the time these were happening.
/Just sayin’ is all.

ParticipantAlso, as Morningbreath pointed out, the recent “narrow” scope contests, I think stems from that. Just about everything that has been suggested recently in broad scopes seems to be responded to with “we did that in…..”
When I suggested the geek one that’s the response I got. Actually, that’s been most of what I’ve heard. Pretty much it comes down to “we already did that” even if it was 3 years ago or whatever. Kind of discouraging for a newbie like me to suggest something if that’s the response I’m going to get.
I’m somewhat of a fan of broad themes myself in that it allows room for less of the same shots or same interpretations. I would like a variety, and sometimes making room for holiday themes or something is nice too.

ParticipantIs this one particular color available throughout the entire image, or is it color to one thing in the image? Because I can see both and the “selected parts” of the instructions above now are making me wonder.

ParticipantOkay. I won’t post the peat bog then. It was actually a suggestion by a friend (already went there and have some pictures), but you make a good point that the top of the peat probably wouldn’t be 100 years old. I’m actually not sure where the oldest peat is and in a lot of places in that bog it’s 17 feet thick. But that’s okay. I did some cemetery shots today (had to do them twice because of water on the lens) that I think are kind of cool. I also have some of a couple of different houses that are definitely 100+ years old, though they look great because they’re kept up nicely.
Ooohh, I just remembered some pictures that *might* work and definitely would be living history. I’ll go check up on that right now.
Edit: Nevermind. Apparently Leonard’s Mill was incorporated in 1960 on the site of actual remains but they rebuilt it with authentic reconstruction. Whoops. Oh well.clouddancer
ParticipantOkay, question. Would it be cheating (sort of) to use a natural thing, i.e., rocks, trees, really old peat bogs, or are you going more for man-made things such as houses, cars, gravestones, etc. Or, does anything count so long as its more than 100 years old? I have a couple of ideas, but I’ll need to redo some shots (bad angles and such, or not as good as I want), and I’m just curious.

ParticipantIs it okay if I pick out the picture I want it done to and Hubby does the color pop thing for me? He did it already on one picture that turned out really cool. He actually took the time, made a copy black and white and then selectively cut out the color part and pasted it or did some layer thing. He’s way more familiar with that whole thing, can ya tell? I guess I’m asking if it’s okay for him to do that part so long as I’m the one who took the picture? This is the picture scaled down:

ParticipantIs it fixed? I seem to be getting in without even a glimmer of a message.

ParticipantThat’s real purdy. I want to visit there some day too.

ParticipantYeah, the attack thing is annoying. Guess I’ll be sure to not go porn surfing today. 😆
Stupid thing wouldn’t let me log in, even though I tried, and it kept popping up every link. Maybe I shouldn’t visit while at work any more, or at least not on that machine anyway. (I work at home and have a KVM so all I really have to do is switch back, but I don’t like doing that too much).
I hope this gets fixed soon!

ParticipantMan, I can’t wait to see these tonight. I’ll be spamming refresh on Fark’s home page ’round midnight to see the thread. I couldn’t come up with anything to do for this contest (and life sort of got in the way a bit), but I’ve been working on photos for the coming contests.

ParticipantI’m glad someone asked because I was sort of thinking about it. Though I’m having a hard enough time figuring out 1 skill to do (though fire seems to go over well), I’m not sure I could do 3.

ParticipantWell, I posted my fat butt up there. (Told you I was fat.) Maybe that’ll be some incentive to go walking outside a bit more. Though, admittedly, it’s kind of hard to do much when you actually sit in a chair for 8 hours of your day typing for work … at home, no less.
In any case, I thought there was a lot of creativity so kudos to all!

ParticipantI’m not sure how Flickr is, but in Photobucket, you can resize pictures. I usually upload my big picture into Photobucket and then have it save a copy to resize and I post the small one that links to the big one. If Flickr has that option, I’d suggest that. I don’t actually have Photoshop on my ‘puter, but asking Hubby to do mine every week gets annoying (and he is annoyed by it) so I just use that. I believe that Microsoft Picture Studios has an option too, if you have that.
P.S. I think it’s okay to walk from the camera. I tried to get my son to run with me and he stopped at the hose instead and tried to soak me.

ParticipantThere. Mine are done and uploaded to Photobucket. Now, unless Photobucket deletes them, I’m good to go for tomorrow night. Grrr. And I thought I was so good too, ready to go for a while, all snug and comfortable and then I couldn’t find them. That’ll learn me.

ParticipantWell I had mine done, then I some how stupidly deleted them (I’m still not sure how). I’ll have to get them in tomorrow or something. Hopefully the weather will cooperate for at least a little bit (it’s been really hot or rainy lately). Blah. I was at the very least satisfied with what I got (won’t be happy because my butt’s too big, and you’ll know I’m not lying when you see the results).
JustKat, I’m sorry you had to go through surgery, but I hope it fixed whatever was the problem and it won’t be necessary again. Also, I hope you’re feeling better.
