ParticipantSorry to hear that emiliogtz… not only did I upload 6 to choose from, I had to keep myself from dumping at least one of those for the cardinal I found the other day… I was so excited I shot over 50 shots of him.
Separate issue: Barracuda is going to be the nice guy to OBO my birds. I told him when I sent the code via PM I would not expect him to break any rules. He suggested he hasn’t seen any rule about an OBO and timing when poster is TF and absent Farktographer is not. Clarification would be welcome so we make sure not to irritate anyone or violate any rules we aren’t aware of.
I can’t see a reason why this would break any Fark rules, we are talking a few hours not days. (As would be the case in a Photoshop thread) If it were something done every week someone might complain, but for one offs like this no big whoop.

ParticipantKestrana: This is the most photographed part of Central Park 😀

ParticipantI’ve got everything I need for a B&W darkroom except the chemicals, but the ease of digital has made me just leave all that stuff alone. Makes me sad sometimes, but then I think about all the time I don’t have and I get over it. I’m never selling the stuff, though… I’ll be retired someday.
I was on a date a few weeks ago and I mentioned I planned on building a darkroom someday, and the lady looked at me shocked and said “Why would you need to do that?” I told her it wasn’t a case of “need” but of “want”. People with darkrooms are kind of like people who rebuild classic cars, but much, much, much cheaper.

ParticipantI loved, and still love, everything about analog photography. The only reason I didn’t keep up with it over the years was I moved around constantly. (military) There was no way I could be sure I would have space for a darkroom and while the military bases I was stationed at usually had a darkroom to use, it was rarely stocked and what equipment there was insufficient and outdated. I took a lot of photos and had them processed but not being to do it myself really made it difficult to gain full enjoyment from the craft.
I regret those wasted years, if I knew then what I know now, I would have MADE it work, somehow.

ParticipantThere is a lesson in this theme for me, that which I truly like the voters truly do not. I should have used Space Shuttle shots again 😀

ParticipantI really need to start doing more of this sort of thing with my photos…I never seem to look beyond the individual image toward how it blends with other images and I really like what I accomplished for this week. Nice call Kestrana!

Participant///Oh. And I pulled a rookie mistake. I brought my camera and was happily taking pics of a baby swan sitting on his mama’s back. Decent pics, not great. I tried to preview a shot and saw…”No Card”. Damn.
That is the first thing I turn off on a camera. I used to have a horrible time remembering whether or not I had film in a camera until I’d take a couple of shots, I would never remember the CF Card unless I turned off the “Shoot W/O Card Option”

ParticipantSo, both are about vehicles but vehicles are not necessarily the focal point of the shot.
so they are artsy fartsy stuff. cool.
i still wouldn’t vote for them. i want all entries to look like mine with the theme subject centered in the frame or if not then arranged by the rule of thirds. imagination or thinking out of the box will not be tolerated. once snapshot quality prevails my entries will rise to the top and i will break back into the top ten.
I lahk thah artsiefarstie I does! 😀

ParticipantI need two quick clarifications. 1) Does the vehicle need to be clearly in the photo, or can it’s passage via a streak of light imply it’s presence and 2)Must the vehicle be the focus of the photo or must a vehicle just be present in the photo?
speaking just for myself i don’t vote for things that look like they were incidental originally. now that said i voted for the grasshopper on the rusty thing by MaestroBen simply because i liked it. still think it’s a photo of a grasshopper not rust and therefore off theme.
In the shots I am thinking of using, the vehicles are actually the theme of the photo. The first is a long exposure of a car turning in front of me and pulling away, you cannot see the car only the streak of it’s departing lights. In the second, another long exposure, the vehicles are all stopped while the pedestrians are all motion blurred. So, both are about vehicles but vehicles are not necessarily the focal point of the shot.

Linked. I knew yours, don’t know how I forgot it.

ParticipantI think the B&W fits some images well and some not as well. I entered one in sepia because I tried it in B&W first but it didn’t look good. Here is the color version for comparison.
I really like Mopsy’s nuts and Ennuipoet’s squeaky wheel. I tried to capture intricate inner workings like that but mine just looked too busy, yours has good framing that works like a windows to peer inside.
Thanks, mine was actually very cropped to get that perspective, I couldn’t get close enough to the object to frame it otherwise. (It’s twenty feet out in the Hudson.)
