ParticipantIt sounds a lot like this, which actually exists already: http://www.spiderholster.com/single-camera-system.html
I think the idea is this one would be more versatile – instead of being a bulky holster that attaches to a special belt, it’s a small clip that you could fasten to anything. Between the two, if they performed the same, I’d much prefer the newer one.

ParticipantWow, $50k in backers with an initial goal of only $10k. Seems like it wouldn’t be cumbersome if you’re wearing a tight-enough belt or backpack, but if you just have it strapped to a loose backpack then I can see it swinging around pretty easily (like a normal neckstrap, though). I like this idea.

ParticipantThat must be one hell of a gap. I have an 18 month gap and finally overcame it after nearly three years.
I think I got elite status after a few weeks and was taken aback at first. Then I read the details of how it’s calculated – now I’m afraid to skip any event. EVER.

ParticipantIt gets my seal of approval, ‘guine.
Also, sweet b’s, miller! I suddenly have an overwhelming feeling of inadequate-ness.
Also, also: I try not to do this, but I’m having issues selecting some photos. I have one that I know I’m using, one that I’m pretty sure I’m going to use, but I can’t trim the last one from these selections. Any suggestions?
Chicago: I like how the buildings reflect clouds, but didn’t know if that took too much away from the cloudscape feel

Taiwan: They have phenomenal cloudscapes there – unfortunately, it was before I really knew how to use my camera

ParticipantI’m going to ditto what was said above – the second one is awesome

ParticipantIf you haven’t already gotten one, I’m in talks with someone on craigslist to buy a Nikon Series E f/1.8 50mm lens, hopefully today. If it goes according to plan, I can let you know how it works with the D7000 shortly.

Participantclouddancer, of the 4, I really favor the last.

ParticipantWould one consider this:

a cloudscape?
I agree with lok – I think this is fair game.

ParticipantI agree, interesting. I get tired of trying to do HDR and coming out with unrealistic results, so I’ll give this a shot. I’d have figured photoshop had a good way to do this but for the life of me I can’t figure it out properly (seems user-unfriendly when it comes to the HDR in CS5, or I’m just dense and can’t figure it out).
I don’t know how much things have changed from CS2 to CS5, but heres a tutorial chakalakasp made a couple of years ago for CS2 http://backingwinds.blogspot.com/2006/10/how-to-create-professional-hdr-images.html
Thanks for the tip – I have some HDR’s to assemble in the next couple days so I’ll give this a shot.

ParticipantYeah, I’ve only been here for a handful of contests and definitely have some shots I’m planning on posting that haven’t been in the previous entries – all taken within the last 5 months, though, so I’m in the clear for the 1-year limit.

ParticipantThanks for the nightmares!!
That which has been seen…cannot be unseen.

ParticipantI’d say it’d be barred from being used in a future contest. It’d be the same idea with cropping a picture you’ve already used, right? A crop doesn’t make it a new photograph, IMO.
