ParticipantAlso wanted to let Yugoboy and anyone other interested parties (U-Man, maybe fluffybunny I’m looking at you) know that we are continuing our league play in the NFL Fantasy Playoff League.
Alas, I am not a big sports person. I know a few of the principles involved but do not follow any team or player, hence it would be me picking options at random. I am fine operating this way, as long as it does not cause issues with those involved already (I recognize that some people take this kind of thing very seriously).

ParticipantSome here (“I placed my Hasselblad camera near the entrance to the Vasilievostrovskaia subway station”)
http://www.alexeytitarenko.com/city_info.html
Prints here:
http://www.alexeytitarenko.com/press/titarenko_blackwhite.pdf
From the pdf:
“Titarenko?s prints are unique
artifacts in themselves. They?re
rich in greys, toning and selective
bleaching, and he flashes his
paper prior to exposing in the
enlarger. His printing process is
labour intensive and extremely
time consuming. To make one
print it takes three to four days.
To put that in perspective, he?s
only able to create four prints a
month or 15-20 a year. Which
further clarifies why Titarenko?s
extraordinary prints are in such
high demand in the American
fine art market.”The handrail was the first I saw and I quite like it as well, amongst several others.

ParticipantWhen I use mine for videos, I always mount it on a tripod to get the sharpest results. I tried using the flash but it made me have seizures.

Participantennuipoet I’m guessing that the people didn’t take their camera out of auto either.
I don’t know, its seems to me those were pretty good pictures for not getting out of the car. Personally, I like to get out and stretch my legs a bit when I photograph a subject using my camera. Oh yeah, and I’ve never used that mode dial setting that has the “green box” icon, whatever that’s called.

ParticipantI asked Kestrana the other night what this week’s theme was, and then was relieved to know I didn’t have to worry about it for another few days. I probably should plan what I want to do, being as how I’m stuck at work until dusk and don’t get home until dark.
You’ve got plenty of time to make the plan tomorrow. Or the next day.

ParticipantI’ll second caradoc’s strobist link, excellent reference. I just went through this my self. I did have some of the Yongnuo-like triggers and even modded them with better antennas but was never happy with the range and reliability. I bought two sets of Cactus V5 (total of 4 ea) and a camera specific shutter trigger cable and could not be more pleased. It’s about $30 per node and the V5’s have a few other bells to boot. Worth reading up on if its in your $ range.
bought mine from (along with other things like stands and umbrellas):

ParticipantI found this while studying model releases, seemed like it may have some relevance here: http://asmp.org/tutorials/property-and-model-releases.html
They have some other stuff @ http://asmp.org/links/25 and http://asmp.org/links/8 that appear useful (TL:DR).

ParticipantI prefer short titles, so I would go with “Wings of fire”. I tend to drift between the abstract and the factual when choosing a title, mostly dependent on my mood or the impression I get from photograph.

ParticipantI’m kind of leaning towards Sigma 10-20 f4-5.6. It seems to be somewhat comparable to the 10-22 Canon (no flame war intended) but for about $300 less (new or used $). I only have one piece of L glass and I love it (70-200 f4) but alas I have been characterized as “cheap” (I prefer smart with money).
I am still throwing around the idea of the Sigma 8-16, but have trouble giving $200 for that extra 13 degree FOV.
All that said, I am still early in the decision process and I tend to follow a sinusoidal decay curve during deliberations such as this.

ParticipantNot a Mac person but I have had a Linux box somewhere on my network since 1997 or so. I had to go through the same PC upgrade when I went from a 20d to the current 7d. Twenty five mBytes is a big image to deal with.
I had been holding out for a tablet too (great minds, etc) so I bought a CTH-470 at the same time. I’m really happy with the new setup but haven’t fully migrated to it because I’m spending a lot of time taking photographs (first world problems).

ParticipantThe title of a photograph talks about the intent of the artist, the underlying reason, the unspeakable feeling that drove the photographer to press the button in the first place.
By this measure, every one of my photos would be titled “I thought this looked cool/funny/stupid” , “I wanted to see what would happen if…..” or “So, I rigged this shit up to….”
I think you should start titling every single photograph you take with “I thought this looked stupid”. Your work will be unique and edgy because of it.

ParticipantCongrats to orionid on the individual win, to U-Man on the combined win, and to fluffybunny on his/her first top ten. The Weekly Reports post has been updated with the latest stats.
Thanks CISS, btw that would be a “his”, guess I’m not much of a profile person.
Not for nuthin’, but “fluffybunny” doesn’t exactly scream testosterone junkie.

My best friends… yadda yadda yadda…Not a criticism. Just an observation.

Yeah, its been my moniker since back when I was a gamer. I chose it to instill terror in my opponents. amidoingitright?

ParticipantCauseISaidSo wrote:you liked it (which is really all that matters), I liked it, and others liked it enough for it to do well in two contests, so if it doesn’t appeal to those who’d rather cry silently in a dimly lit corner, who cares? 🙂
I heart this comment.
The votes here (or on G+, or as applause from an audience) are a good way to get a different opinion of one’s work. I don’t think you could even say an objective opinion as was noted about the nature of Farktography. It’s just a different view. I try to meld these feedback sources into my internal reference calibration as on offset to my own opinion of my work. The general phenomena in play in the Duss article and on G+ as you noted IMHO is that of the emperor’s new clothes, it happens every where in human societies. From fashion to automobile design to architecture and so on. While I don’t have an onion on my belt I am none the less subject to these forces, I just try to minimize the impact.
