i just bought my macro lens today — silly timing, no? — so maybe it will attract more horny bugs. i only have one bug pr0n pic lol.

thanks for all the input, y’all. i think i’m going to go with the sigma 50mm. i’ve been playing with a 100mm macro lens (on loan) and while it can take some absolutely fabulous close-up/macro pictures, i actually like the wider angle possibilities of the 50mm. maybe that will mean i’ll end up cropping more often (artistically, not for magnification) but having played at some length with the 100mm and tried some lenses that weren’t macro but didn’t totally suck at close-up and could at least give me an idea of what the angle of view would give me, i think that, for my purposes, talents and tastes, the 50mm is the right lens at this time. not to mention budget lol!

/i hope i’m right. the gods know i’ve dithered on this subject enough! 😀

I’ll second your reaction to justkat‘s entry. My first thought as I was scrolling down the page was, “JESUS CHRIST IT’S A… DEER… GET In the… wait… what the hell?!” Very cool picture.

heeheehee it will always be one of my favorite pictures evar. even if there are ways it could be more perfect, i still love it.

U-Man- we (olavf and i and my step-son) came upon a group of deer on a hillside and we crept up it part way to shoot them. well this one deer was trying to sneak around down the hillside and i was tracking it with my camera when all of a sudden i had my son in frame as well. the deer saw him more or less at the same time and ducked her head as if to make herself less conspicuous but when i snapped the pic it totally looked like she was sneaking up on my son. i lold hard.

Man. As frequently happens, I’m stuck between several for #3. Do youse guys want classic pretty deer shot or mildly funny with caption deer shot?

We were trying to get something kind of like this picture of the model on the gravestone, but I messed up lighting the scene in what ended up being a hilarious way.

I am actually feeling quite good about my entries this week but that has no relation to the amount of votes I am going to receive, of course.

There is no prize, per se, but you get special treatment from then on.
For example, ever since I won, I have yet to get a parking or speeding ticket. People stop me on the street from time to time to shower me with praise, flowers, dolls, underwear, etc.
There’s other stuff too, like I would buy any farktographer a beer at a Fark party, but, if you win a contest I would totally buy you a fancy beer, like chimay or something that comes in a fancy glass so everyone knows you’re extra special.

But if you have a fancy camera with you, you’re not getting a beer with dregs, like la fin du monde or whatever, because then you might not drink the ruphies.

I am sorting through my pictures now, although I do plan to go to the graveyard just down the street. I tried last night and just wasn’t feeling creative.

I think my best entry is an accidental self-portrait that ends up being very funny.

i can’t wait to see what that means… 😀

since my last post i have sort of maybe eliminated some of the pictures, but also essentially added one by cropping one and now not being able to decide if i like the cropped or the original better — they end up being totally different photographs even though i’m cropping out very little. 😯

my folder now has 12 photos in it. i have to bring that down to three. oh dear.

this is not to say there are 12 fantastic photos in there. there may not even be three lol. just that there is paring to do. but hey, it’s pared down from 100 or so, so that’s a start… 😉

thanks you two. U-Man, i’m constantly lying down on the ground to take pictures lol. or climbing up on something. the change of perspective is something that i cherish, for lack of a better word. my step-son did give me a look like i was nuts when i was shooting that worm though. 😉 (I was like ‘what? it’s huge! i have to take its picture!’ heehee)
