Participant🙁 Sorry to hear that gambitsgirl. We all go through periods where photography seems to be the last thing on our minds or we lack inspiration and that’s totally understandable. The only thing I can say other than offering my sympathies is that sometimes it’s good to get out and do something else as I’m sure you well know.

ParticipantI don’t think click throughs have anything to do with votes.
My Crown Point #1 photo has 15 views on Flickr and not all of them came from Fark.
Orionid‘s NSFW triptych has like 800 views and was not remotely near the top 10.I myself rarely click through to larger and whether or not I do click through has little bearing on whether or not I vote for the entry.
As for how to get more people to vote, it goes hand in hand with participation. We have a healthy group of regulars that participate but the more people playing the more votes we get. The casual viewer has no incentive to vote despite how easy it is. That is really one of the only perks to having a prize for the winner, would be more of an incentive for casual viewers to participate and vote.

ParticipantYou bought your 7000 less than a year ago right? My 5000 came with a 5 year limited warranty. Might be worth giving Nikon a call/email.

ParticipantIf you really are stuck for ideas, I’d direct you to either the D&D wiki or the Wizards of the Coast website.

ParticipantCongrats kashari I’m going to post your winning photo on the Farktography G+ page (attributed of course). Please let me know if that’s not ok.
Kestrana
ParticipantFarktographer for you it might be easier to think of the *medieval* side of this theme.
I think there might be a castle or dungeon somewhere near you. Or two.

ParticipantA bow and arrow would be fine Curious. It doesn’t need to be specifically medieval or specifically magical, but photos evocative of either medieval or fantasy settings is the idea for the theme.
LARPing is also ok as long as it’s medieval fantasy and not say, dragonball Z.

ParticipantYeah thanks for that note olavf. I had planned to use mpix for anything large I was going to get but I like Shutterfly’s quality for 3×5 and 4×6 prints.
Don’t use Snapfish. They’re crap.

ParticipantCheap on Ebay because the ones you get from there are knock off Chinese versions, not the pro ones B&H carries. We bought a Pentax -> Nikon one off ebay that worked for what we needed it for, but the quality is going to be different.
As to the Minoltas working, unless they use the same kind of threads as Canon, you’d need a Minolta adapter I’d guess.
As to the M4/3 universally the same, that I don’t know.

ParticipantI just ordered an inexpensive calendar for my Grandmother from shutterfly.com with a gc I had. I’ve gotten prints from them and they were good quality. I’ll let you know how it looks.
I have also heard really good things about mpix, just haven’t tried them yet.

ParticipantThanks! And if you want to hire someone to photograph your fishing lures…
Kestrana
ParticipantYeah but U-Man then they’ll turn into amazingly gorgeous women to photograph instead.

ParticipantThanks Mopsy – I think your entries are better than mine this week though. Especially the one with the smoking hunter, love it.

ParticipantI think we need to make it a rule U-Man is no longer allowed to use his children as subjects. And maybe NBD‘s pug too… TOO CUTE
Kestrana
ParticipantThe Mayan temple antics didn’t help that 😀
Also, we’re going to have to sacrifice some of the low vote-getters to propitiate Huitzilopochtli….
I like it. I wouldn’t suggest eating their flesh to take their powers though, we have enough trouble with fark voters as it is.
