ParticipantSheesh, I might need to bring a dolly to mug you both in one trip.
I only have my D5000, 18-55mm and 55-200mm lenses and the Farkholga!

ParticipantIt’s weeks like this where I wonder if I should just give up and stop competing here. I feel extremely outclassed. Did I really do that badly this week?
It’s easy to get discouraged when you just look at votes but farktography is about more than the sum cumulative award circle. Be here because you like taking pictures, the impetus to have a goal each week, and the camaraderie. Your participation keeps the contest diverse and interesting 🙂

Participant… I actually try not to look at the farktographers’ names until after I’ve voted. …
Yeah me too. I try to guess who it is before I peek. I tabbed Kestrana‘s “One Cup” as a U-Man. That should be a compliment 🙂
Wow, it is indeed, thank you.
I vote right away so I’m not influenced by the trend and keep voting as new pictures are added.
There’s a “two Farktographers, one cup” joke in there, but I’m not making it.
When I said the scene needed more of someone else that’s not exactly what I meant…

ParticipantGood cuz I have some evidence I need to destro…I mean share with the world.

ParticipantKestrana: I really liked the coffee cup shot, it was beautifully lit and subtly sad.
Thank you very much! There’s a lot of great stuff already. I love harpo‘s train tracks.

ParticipantYeah I’m pretty much regretting suggesting that now since I’ve had a billion ideas for portraiture, all of which would involve using myself as the model because Washington is a lame place to live right now.
On the other hand I am pretty happy with what I do have for this week and like that challenge.

ParticipantAcid free storage boxes are the best way to preserve anything paper for the future. If you want, you can also add mylar sleeves.
As for the scanning, to scan each picture once should not cause permanent damage to the item, and you should also scan the backs if there is anything on the back as well, since inks fade over time no matter how they are preserved. When scanning make sure the glass is clean and dry before you begin. If possible wear cotton gloves to handle the pictures when you are putting them in final storage as the oils on your hands cause degradation. Scanning is a very good idea, it allows many people to enjoy the pictures without putting them in harm’s way.
If you need to enclose anything in the storage boxes, print with a laser printer on acid free paper.
Store at room temperature in an area not in direct light.

ParticipantI live 3 minutes off of I-80 in NW Ohio and would looooove to make that happen! Definitely contact me if interested and we can coordinate schedules when the time comes.
Awesome, Ohio’s probably in the May 6th-7th date range.
Give me a hollar and I’ll see if I can’t make it up tp somewhere along the route when you know your schedule better. I can make it up either I-65 or I-69 to a convenient spot.
Yes! Same as bucky, we will know more a few days beforehand.
We live about a mile off I-80!
Yes but you live in California, which is not one of the states on our route 🙁
I live in Chicago!
We were hoping you might join us when we were downtown, probably May 4th.

ParticipantI hate when people post “There’s too many good pictures so I’m not voting.” Vote for all of them silly people!
Kestrana
ParticipantThat was my thought. It’s like complaining about your representation in government and not voting.

ParticipantWelcome to the forum 🙂

ParticipantElsinore, I think the img src tag has an error in it.
It should read
img src=”http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4017/4463163702_1f1fce3fdc.jpg” width=”500″ height=”482″ alt=”MonetHDR” />
with < at the beginning
