ParticipantDunno about Choc-Ful-A, but I use DCRaw for processing RAW under Linux/with GIMP. I also always shoot RAW (actually RAW +jpg at the large size–sometimes I like what the camera does with the image better than what I can do, and for snapshots, it’s especially easy/nice).
Already had that installed, I wonder when that happened. I guess its time to try and figure out how to use RAWs now.

ParticipantI’ve had my DSLR since June and after I found a good Linux tool for decoding RAW images I switched. Also, memory cards seem to drop in price every month, so the size is becoming less and less of a concern. When I got my camera, they were selling good 8G cards for $44.
What are you using for RAW images, I’ve been wanting to try shooting RAW instead of JPG but didn’t have any clue what to use in linux.

ParticipantI’d assume all previous contests are fair game since there aren’t any posted time restrictions, if we made this a yearly thing then we might want to limit it to the previous year.

ParticipantI use ubuntu for everything on my computer and do all my photo editing in linux(I’ll let you decide if thats much of an endorsement). I use gimp for my regular photo editing, mostly playing with levels and stuff like that. I know photoshop can do more than gimp, but for what I do gimp suits me fine and even if I was using windows or a mac I’m not sure I’d want to spend the money for photoshop when gimp does a good job for what I do. As for hdr I use qtpfsgui(I think they’re changing names for the next release). Heres the best hdr I’ve made with an older version of qtpfsgui http://www.flickr.com/photos/guine/2107027984/ and the newer versions are able to make more realistic hdrs. Autostitch works really well for panos and every pano I’ve created with it has come out well and looked very realistic. Heres an old pano I made with autostitch if you want to see what autostitch can do too http://www.flickr.com/photos/guine/532496144/

ParticipantI’m fine with letting them stay.
This contest seems to have scared away the liters.linguine
ParticipantNice shots, my favorites are the barn with the rainbow maybe late summer/early fall, the new york shot maybe november since you seem to have more warm weather shots, the american flag maybe april or may since its windy in that shot, the 2 pink flowers pointing down for spring, the waterfall and turtle for summer, and the leaf for sometime in the fall.

ParticipantWish I hadnt used this shot before where I picked up the tripod in the middle of the exposure because I forgot how long I had left the shutter open.

ParticipantAmazing.

ParticipantI think that would count. Although I’m still trying to figure out whether we’re supposed to be going for the coolest looking screw ups or our biggest screwups.

ParticipantAlright, I’ll actually be able to use my first farkamera shot.

ParticipantI’ve never done it, but everything Ive seen says take lots of long exposures.
