Well I ended up borrowing a thumbnail drive from my neighbor right after I posted so I used that instead rather than risk my computer being moddy and breaking my camera. But Ill have to remember that I can do this for when Im feeling braver in the future.

By strong vertical components I was thinking something like looking up a tree trunk or building, but things that we use to go up and down works for me.

Is this theme supposed to be just things that we use to go up and down with or anything that has a strong vertical component to it?

I think I have to agree with miller on this, some of the things that this tool can do seem to be a little high on the photoshop side of things.

Also, earlier this afternoon one of the mods reposted the legal reminder saying that the photographer is the legal copyright holder of all photographs that they submit to farktography.

If they dont change the copyright policy wouldnt submitting a blurry version of the picture that links to the real version get around this because you would only be giving fark copyright over the blurry version. Although I hope that people dont have to start doing this because it wouldnt be much fun click on every entry. Also couldnt the fact that they let elsinore post in the boobies each week saying that the photographer is the legal copyright holder make it a little harder for them to claim copyright of the images.

I dont think i like it, im not going to be able to randomly highlight stuff while im reading anymore.

I think its mostly a setting where the camera will pick shutter speeds/apertures that are good for close ups if you would rather let the camera set the exposure than do it manually. I usually just shoot in manuel mode on my d50 so I dont think Ive ever actually used the macro setting.

The 1:00 time for you is when the contest will go up on totalfark and anyone with totalfark can start posting images then. The contest wont go up on regular fark for a couple of hours, its been 4 hours later lately, at which point regular farkers can post and people can start voting.

It works in firefox on my computer and firefox doesnt work very often on my computer anymore since I tried to install a newer version of flash.

last year I just did my favorite 3 assuming thats what everyone else was doing and didnt get yelled at

I think the main reason why we decided against allowing hdr shots was because people wanted to minimize the processing of images and make this more regular photography. When we did a hdr contest last fall there was some talk about doing more hdr contests from time to time because everyone seemed to like doing it occasionally but most people didnt want hdr to be a regular part of farktography.
