You’re going to see a side of one Mike Ball that you’ve never seen before…

Looking forward to it. Thanks for the php help; it seems so much cleaner than html.

And now for the other side of my work:

Do you think it would be OK to submit a few pics that reflect my style (whatever that is) without having them based on another’s work?

That’s exactly what I’m going to do.

Unless I get to do some learnin’ real quick, I think I’m going to submit logomancer-style. Step back, folks…

And, hey, shouldn’t you be in a duffel bag somewhere? Not that I saw anything…

PS: Happy autumn (more or less) everyone!

PPS: How come the html doesn’t kick in? How does one post imgs here?

I think this style theme is a great idea, but definitely will stress some folks. I’m guessing that would should relax the criteria for this one, allow post-processing that wouldn’t otherwise pass muster – might as well let people traipse a little toward that shadow world of graphic design that covers just over the horizon and follow highly stylized photographers, too. Not that I’m worthy of being emulated in the least, but if, say, a friend of mine wanted to copy the style of many of the photos on my own website – the more public side of my work – they wouldn’t be able to under the normal rules, nor would they be able to for more legit folks such as wedding photographers who touch up their photos and add postprocessing effects that wouldn’t be permissible under the farktog rules. So to generalize and head off conflict, I say we allow for anything goes, except for the normal bright line stuff – copyright, three entries, etc. What say you?

*hits mikemikeb with a blackjack, shoves him in a duffel bag, runs to his car, throws him in the trunk, runs back, hopes no one saw anything*

Yo, stapla, you might want to trade me some votes tonight for a certain photo or two I may or may not have taken a few nights back in the shadows of the west wing of a certain parking garage off of Lake Shore Drive…

This is why the FSM should excise cheat entries; apparently nobody else easily will.

If only it’d work in the District of Colombia….

Sure did. I experimented with painting the cactii – luckily I had two different flashlights. Here’s what the other one looked like:

I was worried with all the recent HDR hubaloo that someone would think that the Joshua shot as well as the Bryce shot were HDR’d, but I just had some fantastic natural light for the latter.

Thanks for the props – and recognizing Scorpius!

this should be a good contest.

It’s shaping up to be one of the best, if I’m not being too hyperbolic.

and when i say big stock and entry, you know darn well what i mean

    great line!!!

logomancer used a shot of his grandmother to win a contest, then a shot that was just about the same to win another contest, both great shots,

If I used similar shots, I definitely apologize and blame it squarely on the intoxicants, but I don’t have any pictures of either of my grandmothers (alas) and have entered very few people as subjects in the contests, being a still-life kinda guy. That said, in checking out the FSM just to make sure, I did notice I deserve a scarlet AaaarghR for entering the same picture for the Time and Religion/Spirituality contests. Mea culpa.

Awesome job, CuddleButt. Could you email me (farktography(at)undergroundbastard(dot)com about how to add new farktographers’ links – I don’t want to screw up your php. Thanks!

    Schnee:

This last week’s contest was #43, so we presumably have nine weeks to hit that mark.

I love, love, love the idea of a crossover theme.

PS: Nice to see that shroom picture get more exposure!

I just got cs2 – mayhap I should check out Bridge. iPhoto was killing me, but then I got around to updating it to 5 and it scales up better but still is teh junk. Thx for the tip.

As for the flash drive, it doesn’t mount to the desktop – which, now that you mention it, violates the metaphor. Doh!

Good show everyone. I blew it tonight. I’m exhausted and we got final word today that my Father-in-law has, at the most, 6 months to “live”. If ya’ll are so inclined, please say a prayer for him (Glenn) and the family. G’night. 😥

Absolutely – for him, you and your families.

    G’night, monkey.

Needless to say, I just about wet myself when I saw that lightbulb pic; I’m glad it garnered the recognition it deserved.

I’m pretty psyched, too, that Drew got us greenlit so quickly: the response has been tremendous, eh?

    Well, anyway, sleep well.
