ParticipantWell thanks for all the advice people. I will try to remember those points next time. I knew the smoke and flames were the important part but just didn’t think cropping it that much would be that much better but I never actually tried it. My bad I guess. My plan is to keep on learning till the day I fall over dead.

ParticipantIn unrelated nitpicking: Farking voters, how do they work? Usually the humor approach works for solid, bowl-my-average outcomes. I guess the humor was too “inside” this week. I knew I should have went with trench warfare.
yeah the votes for my entries this week are rather weak. I almost feel like a failure. I know the voters are fickle but geeze the picture I liked most has gotten 2 votes other than my vote. Well maybe next week I will have better luck.

ParticipantIf anyone happens to look at my B-sides and has any thoughts along the lines of “you know, I’d probably have gone with this one over that one,” I’d welcome the input. Still working on trying to recognize what distinguishes a photo that I happen to like from one with perhaps more universal appeal…
I might have gone with the second Blue Angels picture instead of the little kid but only because it makes me wince to see his finger on the trigger in a crowd of legs. I realize its most likely empty but my dad would still freak out and I guess he taught me well. I really like the kids picture and I like your choices other than that.

ParticipantYeah I am using archive shot for 2 of mine and one I got a few weeks ago. didn’t like the Lego attempts.

ParticipantSo should I wait till I get the updated version of the release form? The version I got earlier has copyright stuff in the language. No problem for me if so.
I also have not been able to find a bigger than 640 by 480 on one of mine. It seems I didn’t know much about save as vs save in feb. of 08. is that a prob?lokisbong
ParticipantI will email the form as soon as I get to my parents house because I don’t have a printer or scanner. I will send the largest version of my pictures at the same time because the free version of Flickr shrinks the file from full resolution. Thank you for thinking any of my shots are book worthy.

ParticipantNot having Flickr pro right now I don’t have access to my stats but I know I don’t have any yet with more than a few hundred views. Some day…

ParticipantOh far out! I have 2 of the army jeep set from Lego. I can maybe work out a idea with those along with the 2 I know I want to use.

ParticipantKitchen knives and sticks would need to be shown in a weaponized context, I think, other than that, it’s all good…
Cool. Makes sense. I can work with that.
Not that I have specific plans, but what about an obviously toy gun pic like this? –> http://photos.imageevent.com/ulle17/fark/Shooter_2156.jpg
That made me laugh very loudly.
Thanks for the clarification sleeping.

ParticipantI would also like to know how strict the rules are this week. More leniency would be cool.

Participantare we allowing pictures of Cris Hanson himself now? kleppe 2010-08-19 11:26:56 AM his quote at the bottom even says it all…Breaking rules. Had to be done. I would be willing to bet he didn’t take that picture.

ParticipantLOL! That made perfect sense to me but I have been sober for a few days now. I am thinking really hard about moving to Nevada and need to be sober if I am gonna get a job there. My friends that live there say getting a job should be no prob as long as I am. The job market here is so bad I am having a hard time even finding minimum wage work.

ParticipantThat reminds me of a pic I had lurking in the archives. (I won’t use this tonight.)
A friend’s dog likes to climb the tree in the backyard. Like, ten feet up.

Back when I lived in Portland Or. I had a friend who had a pit-bull that regularly climbed the oak tree in the front yard. He typically would get around 20 feet up and only fell out once.and that was a cats fault. He was chasing it and the cat was way faster back down than the dog could pull off. Luckily the cat escaped and the dog was uninjured.

ParticipantVery cool to see how far the technology has gone in the years since then.
