Participantlol I seriously doubt that. It’s a plain shot, meanwhile there are seriously awesome images in that thread.
Yeah. But your shot has boobs! 🙂
I seriously do not understand why I didn’t think of that shot. I mean, I think about stuff like that about as much as most 16-year-olds.
/I’m a bit delayed in some areas.
Dude…nobody wants to see a shot of saggy moobs with a tape measure around them .

Participant…asks conversationally… “So, how do you get to the clipboard thing again? I mean, just in case I wanted to type out something before a contest.”

ParticipantI didn’t get a chance to get out shooting this week. And some last minute snaps of my dashboard are less than spectacular, so I’ll be sitting out again. I’ll be back next week, though, lens-a-blazing!
I hear ya!
This is the best shot I could get bouncing an Acura 3.2 TL off the rev limiter.

Participantsaw your band photos on flickr. looks like it did pretty good with some tricky lighting.
Yea it worked pretty good considering.
We got there when the band was starting the second set. I took a few shots standing directly in front of the stage. During the break I looked at them and played a bit with the camera settings. The third set we ended up on the other side of the stage and I kinda got muscled away from the stage by my wife and some other girls. I moved to the side of the stage and sat on the stairs
Overall I took about 750 shots. I deleted about 300 right away because they were beyond help. Out of the 450 left I converted about 200 from RAW and out of those 200 I got 80 keepers.
Most shots are at ISO 400 or 800. There was some noise, moreso in the darker shots, but nothing that really detracted from the shots or that couldn’t be cleaned up easy with Noise Ninja.
Pros:
This camera so far has shot the best photos of any P&S I have tried to use for this type of setting. The IQ is definitely acceptable and the noise is not a major factor unless you use ISO 1600.The ability to easily change exposure & aperture is a big plus.
The flash is adequate for close to medium range shots. Second curtain flash control is a huge plus that I didn’t have on any other P&S. especially for this type of environment.
Focus was pretty quick and accurate considering the constant moving subjects and changing light conditions.
Shutter lag was there but not bad for a P&S
Small optical viewfinder is useable but not great.
The cons are small sensor = noise at high ISO so some shots are missed because of slower shutter speed (to be expected)
Very easy to move dials for exposure & aperture esp in the dark so you need to keep an eye on the settings.
Burst mode is very slow. Not like the Panosonic which fires like an Uzi, but the shots are better.
Canon RAW is not compatible with PS Elements 6. works with UFRaw and the supplied Digital Photo Proffesional 3.5 (but not older versions).I guess I will be keeping it as it seems to be the best I have had so far. It reminds me alot of my Fuji s5000 which was probably the equivalent of this camera back in the day.

ParticipantInteresting – apparrently people were quite interested in comparing a modified photo to the original. Usually my flickr viewing stats show a bit of a spike on Thursdays from contest viewers, but this week it’s huge, and most of them were from people clicking the link to the unmodded original version of my photo. I thought that seemed like a natural thing to add to the post, but it looks like almost no one else decided to do it.
I thought about but I didn’t process any of my shots other than resize and sharpen. Then I ran em through the tilshift site and did any other work to them after. So my originals woulda sucked.

Participantoh, god, you people are way over-thinking this. I don’t think it’s who makes the most believable miniature scene, it’s who gets the coolest photo at the end of things. I think the votes are going to go on overall impact, not fine-level detail.
Overthinking has been the norm around here lately. A few weeks ago there was a debate over the definition of a shadow 🙂
I’m just running stuff through the website, if it looks cool I keep it if not I delete.

ParticipantMy shots bombed..and it was my theme idea…Oh well.
I think I voted for everybody this week though.

Participantwow. slow voting doesn’t even begin to cover it.
I don’t think the FSM is picking up the votes. On Fark the numbers are a lot higher. Still not great but double what the FSM shows.

ParticipantGreat shots this week!
Little slow on the votes coming in but still a nice showing.
Silver Stag: Your Berlin wall shots on flickr were my inspiration for suggesting this theme. Nice to see them doing good.
Orionid: The gun shot is awesome!
