ParticipantHe’s the dude that had the show chasing pedophiles or whatever.

ParticipantConsidering that’s the meme picture, I’d need to see some proof.

ParticipantWhen I was working on this one, my thoughts were along the lines of “obviously intended for sitting on” or “actively being sat on”. So besides the obvious chairs… A rock isn’t a seat unless someone is using it for one. The exception would be the “obvious” like a bunch of rocks arranged around a campfire (to provide seating for the campers).

Participantd’oh. I was having a bad computer night last night. So I blame that 😛

ParticipantSweet. I’m considering the family on the granite block I posted in the gallery section, and one or two others I took the weekend before as a 2nd/3rd shot. I’ve got two of ‘just chairs’ but it’s nice to know what the options are

ParticipantKestrana, yeah, that’s Second Street, right where one comes out of the parking structure under I-5. It’s pretty quintessential Old Sac architecture.
(these are a few I have handy from other trips)I don’t have any good pics of the architecture handy, it seems, orionid. I’ll have to dig through the archives and see what there is to be had. I know there’s a few that give a good feel, but they’re not handy, it seems :/
ravnostic, I need to do that more, but part of what I like about people-watching is their general lack of awareness that I’m watching them. As I start photographing more ‘personalities’, I suspect that will change, and I’ll have to engage them more to get the stuff I want.

ParticipantGiven a choice with no modifiers, probably the trees, followed by the colored pencils. But, I’m not a big fan of HDR.

ParticipantI can’t think of anything, but I’ve used the place before. The architecture is pretty much late 1800’s Western, and somewhat cluttered by modern elements (like cars and such), so difficult to photograph well 😛

ParticipantThey’re all candid. I generally try and be somewhat discreet about the whole thing, though I think I need to figure out how to change that. Sometimes audience participation is okay, but engaging them is my weak point 😛
The two you mentioned are funny. They were both taken on an excursion train. The kid was on the train with us, so like 6′ away. The couple, well I saw them on the way out, and figured they’d still be there on the way back. That was hand-held, 300mm zoom from a moving platform. I’m surprised it came out at all 😛

ParticipantBack on topic; are any of these things allowable?
Dolphins? Whales? Crustaceans/Shellfish? Octopi/Jellyfish?
Mediocre rock bands?
olavf
ParticipantI’ve been wondering the same thing. I’ve probably got plenty for both, but y’all know me…I’m partial to stuff with people in them 😛
but if not, that’s fine too.
On a side note, what about people using things that aren’t ordinarily chairs?
olavf
ParticipantI’d love to see you play strumpet. Wait. Never mind.

ParticipantThough, I have to admit that I didn’t think I’d ever see a Miles Davis flamewar.
A Miles Davis flamewar? Wha…? How….?
Let me guess: someone actually came right out and said “On the Corner” is Davis’s best album?
Because them’s fighting words.I don’t remember the video, but it was one of those ‘best trumpet evar’ kind of things. It just got ugly, and weird.

ParticipantAwesome, rav!
olavf
ParticipantVery cool. And depressing at the same time…
Thanks. And I hear ya.
I think I picked the wrong contest to implement this. Fare thee well, oh Greatest Averages Evar list, I hardly knew ye. 🙁
You’re pretty new, so it comes and goes. A lot. Give it time 😉
