ParticipantAwesome! Well done, and an excellent shot too!
That reminds me that I’ve got to get off my arse and submit to the local thing 😛

Participantbtw – JustKat, I missed these comments last week. I hope things are still going well. Perhaps it is a walk in that inner-city park in the afternoon?
With any luck it’ll be Cesar Chavez park, on a weekend. So, there’ll invariably be a Mariachi band and some cold cerveza 😀

ParticipantDammitz, I didn’t even think of a long exposure shot. Oh, well. I’ve got two that I’m happy with, and no time for a third the way the work week’s panning out.

Participantah, well. if it’s not appropriate, I’d appreciate someone taking it down.

ParticipantOkay, now you said foxes and stuff….do they have to be live, or would stuffed count? (I have a really pretty stuffed fox, no it’s not a previously live fox, it’s a stuffed animal).
I guess this answers the question of whether or not they have to be our pets. My dog is kind of stupid but we have a friend here with his dog and she’s really pretty and much smarter than my dog, although it’s better now that they actually play and get along.
Stuffed animals are totally good. As are porcelain, metal, any other material. We can’t expect everyone to have a live dog. Or at least a smart one at that. And no, they certainly do not have to be your pet. I think that only one of my pics will be of any of my three dogs. The others will all belong to other people.
Last minute ruling: dog costumes? It’s a ridiculously cute picture.

ParticipantI’ve heard nothing good about the Canon 70-300 either. The 100-300 is supposed to be much better overall.
This is w/ the 100-300mm non-IS, @300mm in evening light. Hand-held. (well my elbows were propped on my knees).
Not super, but not too bad, IMO.

ParticipantI just recently got the 100-300 (non-IS) and I’m pretty happy with it. From what I read, DO NOT get the 70-300 non-IS. I think retail is around $300 but I found a gently used for just over $200.
I need the image stabilizer. I have a very difficult time holding the camera still.
Personally, if I’m shooting at any kind of zoom, I need a tripod anyway. I don’t know how much the IS would help with that.

ParticipantWay to make us all look like a bunch of lazy slobs.
Hope everything went well.FWIW I’m included in that list too 😛
Everything’s well as they can be. Just got her home. She won’t be running away from anything for a while though.

ParticipantWow, I have a fat butt… Looking at the results thus far was not pleasant. 🙁
I don’t know about you, but I may be using a loosely-improvised superman cape…

ParticipantI was just coming in here to say that it disappeared U-Man :/

ParticipantMy thought is that we’re really voting on the images in the thread. Honestly the linked image could have dancing polar bears for all most people would know.
I’d link both – the ‘pops larger’ and the animation.
