ParticipantI, too, am really impressed. Love Ranger Joe’s shot reflected in the windows, especially.

ParticipantI’m at a loss. I still have one pic, firm. I still have two frames I’m debating. I have oodles of 3rd choices and I can’t decide any of those. I think it’s time for a viewing of “Galaxy Quest” (“Hold, please!”) and then maybe I can decide. Or not. But I love the movie, and I need a distraction…

ParticipantFunny, two of my shots have a very Noir feel to them. Put a gut casting a long shadow in the corner somewhere and I could have a B-side for last weeks Theme. We’ll see how they fare this week.
My thoughts, exactly…funny, that…I could have done much better (hell, I couldn’t possible have done worser).

ParticipantI’m Gettying a little tired of the problems I’ve been hearing about Getty. Wait..what?

ParticipantThe camera I’m planning on using is THIS VGA camera (although my faceplates are different).
Trust me when I say this thing takes crappy pix:
(I do not know why this pic isn’t showing up except that maybe my browser’s embarrassed to post it)
I’m getting a message that I need to sign in to your hosting service, so that might be it. Post it ‘public’, perhaps?

ParticipantH is the new ‘W’.

Participantsoosh; I love ya, man, and it’s a great shot–but it’s rooftops at best, and that’s not the parking lot.
😳 edit: I called ‘im “swoosh!”. LOLZ My bad, but tah-funnay.
…when are we going to have a redux of ‘tah-funnay’?

ParticipantWow. Want. Weird. Wonderful. Wrought.
//I could spend all day here posting ‘w’ words about this find, but then I’d have to spend 25 more days on the other letters. Awesome. Bestest. Chique. Dominating. Etc…

ParticipantHrm…worth looking into with some recent photos…

ParticipantOh, great, chupa, go and make me want to spend even MORE money! At the moment, I’m working with the tethered regular remote shutter. All of these are 30 second exposures because that’s the max I have available without standing there counting in my head the seconds beyond. I sat in the car, listened to the radio, and viewed my sky watcher software for good subjects while the camera clicked away. As it happened, the card was full after some 12 frames, and I wanted to move on when I switched it. I should get more, though. And if the moon weren’t out, the sky’d be darker. I’ll have to wait for next month for that opportunity, though.

Participant5:21 EST. just saying.

Participant**dear God, please make this thread orange.**
Did it work?

ParticipantBuy 7 of these.
You’ll probably get it on your first try, but then you’d still have 6 more to try amping it up.
Oh, to hell with that–but my gawd thanks for the link, staplermofo!!
Look what else they have: http://www.amazon.com/Hootoo-Vision-Webcam-12-0MP-Microphone/dp/B003VY4M42/ref=pd_cp__1
Man, I’m tapped out till Friday, but I can see blowing $30 on a few of these just to take them apart…mixed reviews, but…
Here’s what one reviewer said:
“The first thing I did was take the web cam apart and remove the infrared filter. Most web cams have a thin plastic filter but this one had a glass filter glued into the lens. I used a small screwdriver and broke the glass and scraped it all out. The web cam now records in complete darkness.
The ability to turn off the LED lights completely is a great addition to this camera. Overall the picture quality is very good and the audio works very well.
This web cam is NOT a true ‘night vision’ camera unless you remove the IR filter. It simply has LED lights to illuminate the subject in the dark, like having a desk-lamp next to the camera at night. If you want this camera to record infrared night vision video you will need to remove the filter, but once you do that it sees extremely well in complete and total darkness. The infrared video quality is as good and in some cases better than my much more expensive CCTV infrared security cameras.“
orionid? What do you think?
//novelty alone might be worth it…

ParticipantI’m actually still uber-excited for this theme. When it was first suggested I’d passed by a parking garage as viewed from a freeway and thought ‘I can capture that’. Turns out that I can’t.
But I’ve gone out to take pictures a hundred times since then, and at every place I stop I think about the place that I’ve parked, and whether I can find a shot there–or wherever my feet take me. I’m fully confident with one entry, am debating two frames from Sunday for the 2nd, and will review the last 6 months archives for a third–and I’ll find it–I’ve taken plenty. Oddly, though, I don’t believe but a few actually have any cars…
//edit ‘gone’ not ‘go’

ParticipantWebcams are surprisingly well constructed. Many even come with an unused c-mount securely on the circuit board.
They look tantalizingly like this.Come on, who wouldn’t want to slap a tiny, high resolution sensor on a tele/microscope?
We’re investigating this. I haven’t yet been willing to undo the plastic casing to verify what’s inside, but Jupiter at 800 pixels is awfully inviting to ponder, and I’m getting 60 fps.

orionid *yawn* Yes, dear, now go back to sleep 😛
(I’ll bet Kes has to say that weekly.) 😆
