ParticipantI’m just wondering, when it gets there, what this is going to do in imagery for DOF in macro….

ParticipantThanks y’all.
I have two pretty good ones for the coming week but I saw a preview one of rav’s and I think he’s bringin’ the stuff. I look forward to what is created.
Hush, you! 8)

ParticipantYoyo DPP is pretty easy and intuitive; if you don’t want to mess with curves the ‘hard’ way, the first tab with highlights, contrast, and shadows will do a pretty fine job of tuning (and from there you can also adjust for temperature and sharpness. If you have Canon lenses, check the third tab for ‘fine tuning’ issues like lens distortion and such.

ParticipantThanks for the back-story, Yoyo! Glad you got my style of humor (some don’t, ya’know!)

ParticipantAh…you make me want to go out fleamarkteting again!

ParticipantI used to write blogs on MySpace (look it up on wiki) where I’d shoot a meal as I created it, complete with ingredients, so I could archive dive as well, but I think I’ll start from scratch.
bah-dump-bump!
//Come back and see me in the 2nd act…

ParticipantWhat Orionid said. Follow Scott Jarvie and wait for a Nevada photowalk (he brings with him a super large following.)

ParticipantI love Jennifer Eden’s “Technicolor Decay” the most (on initial inspection; haven’t got the time to look more thouroughly right now.) lokisbong; Google Plus. You’ll find walking companions there.
If anyone’s in the Phx area next Saturday (the 11th), a bunch of us are going to Cave Creek for one. They are a blast!

ParticipantYoyo–I don’t mean to be mean-spirited, demented, immature, or malicious, but it has to be said (or I think so). If there were ever a reason for a ‘funny’ vote, it’s the recruiter shot from Arcelor Mittal. I’m sure she’s a very pretty girl–I can see that–but that makeup has. got. to. end. The penciled brows are not only uneven, but they’re a bit evil looking. The top lashes look like she’s on the Las Vegas Strip (and I don’t mean the burlesque), and this combines with a smile that says, “Yes, I hear you, but I’m ignoring you, you want me to hire you where?”
It got both the votes from me.

ParticipantYeah, but the “get up close and personal” aspect is missing in a bunch of these (including that one). It appears the voters have noticed, however, so I’m not going to stamp my feet and get pissy.
I noticed this too–and placed my votes accordingly, with regard to telephoto especially (where it just seems so blatantly obviously so).
Part of farktography, in my heart, is learning to face a photographic challenge head on and do your best. I’ve won, and I’ve failed utterly. But I wouldn’t be 1/2 the photographer today (for whatever it’s worth) if I didn’t try.
I credit my Tucson Photowalk for giving me the guts to just go up and ask people to take their picture. Being surrounded by 15 other DSLR endowed persons kinda helped, though–added some legitimacy.
I credit the community here–the inspiration, the knowledge base, the willingness to offer assistance, advise, a guiding hand–for bringing my skill levels up to my passion for the craft. Both of which, fortunately, keep increasing. U-Man, Orionid — watch your backs. 😉
Next week, “Apples vs. Oranges II”, is my two-year anniversary contest.
I really hope to be bringing my game. [fingers crossed].
//sorry for the segue. Sorry, too, if I spelled segue incorrectly. Every since the Segway, I always forget how to do it right.

ParticipantFarktographer in that particular corner of the bar, the only (major) lighting is provided by a single bulb housed in one of those metal caps they use on large CO2, etc canisters (they’re all around the bar.) So the light just happened to catch him (well, I hope) in mid-swig. Thanks for asking!
ravnostic
Participantfarktographer I like #1 of the two better, YMMV.
This is the first contest in a while where I’m hopeful I might do decently. But you never know with the voters.
