ParticipantSlightly more photogenic than my Sunday in Peoria shots from a few years ago… you wanna talk desolately empty? I stood in the very middle of Main Street, took a few pictures of the empty street and feared in no way for my health and well-being.
Hey now. You say that Like it is a bad thing…

ParticipantWow.

ParticipantHmmm. Y’know how you add glycerine for good bubbles? I wonder it it would make better crowns.

ParticipantMopsy – I have worn the Scarlet R as well.
/now let’s all talk like pirates for a while. Arrrrrr!Down voter topic – Bird Guy? Who’s that. The same guy as the un-creative bokeh guy?
Kestrana – Good race to the finish line this week. 🙂 I think you’re gonna take 1st though. I’m hoping for a tie.
/I have been meaning to do that splash sort of shot for a while now and just haven’t. Yours is good. Is the color just food coloring in water or milk?U-Man
ParticipantElsinore, thanks a bunch for taking care of my earlier, erroneous entries. I had set them up as Word documents and (due to farking parenthood and the farking back to farking school night after a farking longer than normal work day) I inadvertently selected text from the next pic.
But all is well now. 🙂 Thanks again.
Pretty good stuff so far.

ParticipantOk then, nothing that’s been living in recorded history?
I like that.
I agree with rav that shells are OK but that the voters might think they are out-of-theme. Same thing with a spider web.

ParticipantCongrats indeed! Very clever!
And executed nicely. Good job.

ParticipantGreat story, ennuipoet. As others have said, I understand your pain. This is comedy in the Ancient Greek form. 🙂 My old cat won’t let me near him with a camera. My Maisy (one year old tomorrow) loves just about everything.
The barren macro police might be busy this week. Just how dead does stuff have to be? Would a pressed flower work? How about an old leaf that has been worked over by Japanese Beetles so that only the veins remain? What about one of my spider web pics with the dew on it?
I arranged these in ascending order of barren-ness. Where is the line drawn? Or is this going to be bubbles and rocks and metal stuff? What if the stuff is on grass?
I don’t have a strong opinion. I’m just trying to define the playing field. It might be best and easiest to just make sure that the subject of the photo (as opposed to the background) is dead. And not just pining for the fiords.

ParticipantThat wolf one is scary and yes, very primal. I’m still looking and just fell in love with the tiger in the snow.
Pfft. Who doesn’t have a bunch of tiger-in-the-snow pics? 🙂

My daughter caught this guy on the driveway tonight. I don’t know what he is, but I took pics anyway. This one fits in tonight’s theme.

ParticipantDifficult choices tonight. Here are some Bees
I really like that lily and the rain shot.
You wrote that just to twist up my heart didn’t you? I have Word documents made up to enter both of those and decided (somewhat arbitrarily) to use the others. :/

ParticipantI set up two cameras for this one. I learned the benefit of two slightly different settings when doing the spinning steel wool shots. I’m glad I did because my other camera’s shots came out a little too light. You could see the gravel along the roadside.
Anyway, for this one I used a Canon 7D, 17-55 zoom set at 17 mm, f/5.6, ISO 400, 221 sec, focused at infinity. The bare bulb of the mag light was nice because it is non-directional. It I did it again, I could get smoother, more uniform circles if I had the string on some sort of axle. I hand held it for these and it twisted and chaffed.
