/but not Curious.
I see what you did there. 🙂

ParticipantU-man: Is your 2011-05-04 08:07:23 PM stitched? The angle of the shot kinda makes it look so.
Naaaa. Although I can see why it might raise an eyebrow or two. It’s the central part of an image using an 8 mm fisheye on a 7D

Participant^^this^^ I agree with it.

ParticipantI don’t have crap for this contest.

Sees irony. 🙂U-Man
ParticipantI foresee problems with the statement, “the majority of the image should be occupied by clouds.”
Calipers, nit-picking, hard feelings. How closely are we gonna call it?
U-Man
ParticipantKidding. 🙂
I don’t have a strong preference between the two version.
U-Man
ParticipantI think the plane is the subject and the clouds are incidental.

Participantgot some cloud shots driving home. and i’m looking at them with the windows picture viewer and thinking about how to tweak them for better appearance. now my new setup is dual monitor so i grab the window and drag it onto the other monitor. damn i sure need to get these calibrated to match each other. but it reminded me that no matter what i do i have no control over the voters monitor. so i may not too much time trying to make the entries “perfect”.
I have two monitors as well. I calibrated one a while back. I just haven’t gotten ’round to doing the other. Sometimes I try to make a photo optimal between the two settings. 🙂

ParticipantNow see, this is what drives me nuts about myself. I can photograph a stranger on the street and achieve a compelling, visually compelling and remarkable image (at least in my opinion) but I cannot do the same for my friends and famly! The shots I posted this week are…nice…but they don’t grab you, they don’t speak to moment or the person. I really don’t understand why I am perfectly comfortable stalking a strange to get the right shot but I can’t do the same for the people I love. 😡
I agree with the comments immediately following your post. I’d add that, in my experience, I find taking portrait type pics (not 300 mm stalker shots) of strangers…well scarier. It takes a certain something to go up to a stranger and ask to photograph them. Every time that I have done so I am proud of myself. I think I look at those shots with bias. Looking at the pic evokes an emotion in me of “how cool I am because I did that mildly challenging thing”. 🙂
I think that is part of it for me.

ParticipantU-man, I love that pillow toss b.
Thanks. It was in a Chicago hotel. My wife, girls and I meet Mopsy and my siter, her hubby and boys in Chi-town at least once a year. This was Sunday morning, after brunch, before driving our separate ways. I’d love to try 20 or 30 more takes with different flash settings and more coaching about poses. 🙂

Participantravnostic: (she’s a nice girl, wouldn’t go flipping off the camera or anything raunchy and disreputable) 😉
My daughter has a message for you. 🙂
LOL, U-man; is that an older one who’s corrupted the younger, or the same one, just a little older but with the same snippy attitude? 😆
Same kid. Same day. Two frames later. I left this one in color and sharpened it. The other went b&w, softer and bumped the contrast.
BTW, I told her to look mad at me. I don’t really accept kids being snippy to me. 🙂
Those first two ‘Regular’ B’s are much more her personality.

ParticipantI’m here via Droid. My only concern was regarding the word ‘portrait’

ParticipantIf my 2011-04-27 08:10:51 PM toaster pic doesn’t fit this theme – somebody please email me. Presently, I am in the bathroom at a country club getting WiFi because it failed in the board room. 🙂
I’ll check my phone periodically.
I have a truckload of ‘regular’ portraits if that’s what tonight is all about.
/I don’t really want to get ‘caught’ walking out of this stall after 10 minutes with my laptop… 🙁

ParticipantThis is farktography, though, and has its unique issues.
The primary issue is that we are a bunch of goof-balls (myself definitely included). 🙂
I have no beef with your comment. I just wanted to point out that the button-pushing is only a small part of the picher-making. I don’t plan on having anyone push my buttons. (I honestly don’t like to have the Mrs. even look too closely at my gear. Can’t imagine sharing with another farktographer in the same house!)
