ParticipantIt is a far, far braver thing you do.
I won’t touch a wedding with a ten foot pole.
And I won’t touch another wedding with Ennuipoet‘s ten-foot pole.
But good luck, definitely.
I won’t be in charge, and I will be learning. If hired, I plan on also asking permission (gently but straightforwardly) to network and get my name out. If he says no, he says no.
This guy’s forgotten more about photography than I have ever known.

Well at least we know Big Cats have good taste in hardware.
Yeah, the lion knows it’s crap, so it’s helping move the process along 😯 😈 😯

ParticipantBatteries came. At first I thought they were the wrong ones. Then I turned them over and the light meter worked. The mirror did not. The problem is somewhere on the trigger side of the equation. I can’t get the film advancer lever to open up and turn the spindle inside. I’m going to do a little more poking at it, but then it will have to wait for fall. Hopefully I can find a repair shop in this cursed town.
F***ing home of KODAK and we are reduced to 1 single camera store. And that one is photo, video and audio, but it’s more like photo, VIDEO and AUDIO. Their accessories do not come close to measuring up to what was available at the other 2 that just recently closed. Their prices suck, too. Much higher than they should be on many items, at least on the photo side of things. I damn near cried when I discovered this.

ParticipantIt seems without exception, the irises in each soldiers’ eyes get lighter during their tour. I’m wondering if it’s light, the light or something else…
(light being different lighting conditions) (“the light” being bright sun bouncing off sand and mud brick huts)

Participant(yikes on the cop car pile up!).
And yes, Yugoboy, you’re vote enabled 🙂Thanx.
That photo is the first one to receive significant attention on Flickr from anybody, and it’s been favorited by like 9 people or so (probably not a lot to some o’ you guys, but for me, that’s like 9 times any other photo that’s been favorited of mine.)

What the heck… It’s the “produce a very different scene” that’s throwing me, but it’s worth hoppering just to see what pops out. It’ll get me to think hard, which is a good thing.

Participantfluffybunny I am stupid in love with “Little Creatures”. At first I thought it was a photoshop, but as I looked, I could tell that the shadows were too perfect for that. Great concept and photo.
Which ain’t to say that all the other entries aren’t terrific also. This thread is yet another one that brought out the “Awesome” in all y’all.

ParticipantOK… I’m on it. We’re keeping it at 10, though, for now?

Vote-Whoring 2is welcome to re-submit. Hopefully the 9 who +1’d before will do so again, and a 10th will wander along.
Anybody else whose 9 vote (or less, for that matter) idea went into the dumpster… please, add it to the mix.Yugoboy
ParticipantDid I remember to enable voting on my second one (Sister Cities Ceremony)?
If not, could you please, Elsinore?

ParticipantWhen do we decide a decision is final?
Just want to know for obvious reasons.
FWIW – I hoppered 3 today, but mostly due to raising awareness and giving 2 of them an extra day or 2 to get us to contest day (for higher traffic).

ParticipantYour tubes defy physics.
I thought so, too. That’s why I mentioned it.
No, the laws of physics don’t work differently in my kitchen. “I’m just a slow cook, I guess.”Light eminating from a point source, which in the case of a lens the nodal point behaves as such, is reduced by a factor proportional to the square of the ratio of distances ( L2 = L1*(D2/D1)^2 ). Put simply, doubling the distance drops two stops.
Thanx for putting it simply. Not only did I not take physics in HS, I wouldn’t have passed it if I had. All because of math, too. I get concepts, and enjoy talking/reading about the ideas, but the math is beyond me.
I’m curious what metering mode you’re using. Perhaps, in the realm of macro, as you add tubes and your image expands, you’re reducing the amount of black as seen by the sensor and tricking the camera into thinking there’s more light. I dunno.
My “metering mode” was me shooting and looking at the resulting image in the monitor on the back of the camera. I think your idea is what’s happening.
I used the black to minimize background clutter. When I used the kit lens, the meter said one thing, but because of all the black, the picture said another. Doesn’t really explain why this happened with the tubes, but not the filters.
Right after I got my camera back, I experimented with the filters a bit outside, and found that I didn’t have to stop down nearly so much as I would have had I had my tubes. So, to say the results of this experiment were interesting is putting it mildly. I do think it’s the ratio of copper/”gold”/rhinestone to black velvet that has a bigger impact than actual physics/optics.
