ParticipantAnd hey, Zeke, was that a Mentos-initiated explosion?
Aye, it was. I swapped the leaded Big Red out for Diet, dropped in three mentos, and let it rip. That one was the first pic of the second shoot 🙂

ParticipantWhat about that time I found you naked with that bowl of Jell-O?
This line is made so much scarier after seeing your first entry 😛
/the rope lighting would be just decadent
While I was finishing up my shoot tonight, that line popped to mind (can’t imagine why…), and it was just too perfect not to use 😉

ParticipantKent: You’re all a bunch of degenerates.
Chris: *We* are? What about that time I found you naked with that bowl of Jell-O?
Kent: You did not.
Chris: This is true.
Kent: Look, it was hot and I was hungry, okay?zeke
Participantthe peanut gallery is out in full force tonight too…..”of all the crappy gross pictures” by someone who doesn’t have anything posted. nice.
They’ll get over it.

ParticipantWhy am I suddenly having visions of a pimped out stapler in neon green with fluorescent black lights underneath it?
and why am I picturing just how to go about doing the shoot, if only for the comedy value? one stapler, green neon paint, tiny type R sticker, lit from underneath with a PC mod kit…

Participanti took it to be folks at a tattoo convention. or biker week in any of the various places that have biker week. in other words pictures of folks with body art doing their own thing while we capture their soul with our cameras. then exploit them for fabulous prizes.
there are those that do street photography well and then there is me. this contest would be for them. i had bugs last week.
That’s a neat trick, given last week was keys 🙂

ParticipantI think it’s implied pretty clearly in the description when it says “tattoos, piercings, & other body modifications”. The context suggests only intentional modifications.
It seems to me that there’s a long history of people interpreting these topics as broadly as possible, e.g. Volkswagens in the Bugs theme etc. Personally I’d hate for that to change
As someone who intentionally looks for alternate, unexpected interpretations for their creative/amusement value, I would ask that if there is something we flat out want to exclude, we must be clear with it. Otherwise, it puts the mods in a very difficult situation– if they pull a pic for being off topic, and the person complains that its not against the stated rules, it doesn’t leave that mods much of a leg to stand on.
Also, more food for thought and contemplation: I have a scar on the side of my face from when I had a mole removed as a teenager. The surgery was strictly optional and cosmetic. So in that sense, that scar is an intentional modification. Not that I have any intention of entering it… would it be legal, or not? Under the current definition for this contest, it would.

ParticipantI wonder how many people are doing red staplers. I mean, they’re famous.
Bah, the idea’s already taken. *crosses it off the list*

ParticipantOdd, what software are you using to do the resizing? Most packages are exif-aware and should preserve that information.

Participant(Andy, Aunt Bee and Mr. Tucker are on the porch; Gomer comes up)
Gomer: Mr. Tucker.
Mr. Tucker: My car ready?
Gomer: Naw, Goober thinks you need a new set of spark plugs.
Mr. Tucker: Well, change ’em.
Gomer: They’re $1.15 apiece.
Mr. Tucker: Fine, fine.
Gomer: She’s an eight-cylinder – she’ll take eight.
Mr. Tucker: Go do it.
Gomer: One for each cylinder.
Mr. Tucker: Go, boy, go. Do it!
Gomer: We have your permission?
Mr. Tucker: Yes. Yes.
Gomer: Didn’t want you to say later on we’d overcharged you.
Mr. Tucker: Go do it.
Gomer: Right. (starts to leave; speaks to Andy) Goober says, “Hey“, Andy.
Andy: “Hey” to Goober.//4UHg

Participanti don’t mind avatars as long as they’re not animated (aka ‘seizure inducing’ – excellent phrase GW). but OTO we’ve made it this long without them, so if it’s a pain to set them up i wouldn’t cry about it or anything.
It’s just one option in the configs for the board. The stock gallery does contain a bunch of animated ones; if they’re too annoying we can junk em. To keep the really ‘seizure inducing’ ones out, uploading is still off- however, we can set a limit to the file size and dimensions, and keep obnoxious ones from being added.
//likewise, if we just dont want em, one switch and they’re gone.

ParticipantFirst shot’s the best, by far. Technically excellent (I would have centered them in the frame, but I’m OCD like that) and the symbolism works just fine. Zeke, Curious, if you wanna get that technical with it, then you could just as easily say that they’re waking through the dark toward the bright spot on the horizon and that, while the road may be dark and difficult, they’re walking it together and looking quite content doing it.
If it was just an artistic romantic shot, I’d agree. But it’s their wedding day– there’s something just not quite right about their wedding day being a long walk in the stormy dark. But I’m a dork like that…
Congratulations on getting some work as a photographer! It’s nerve-wracking to go out and try this stuff for a living! Keep up the good work and keep working on your skills, you have very good ideas. 🙂
Oh, and this. Grats!

ParticipantI really like the first one, with one tweak. The black and white works well, the couple walking down the long straight road together is wonderful symbolism. The problem is the overhead clouds look forbidding; extending the symbol, it suggests the couple is walking into troubled times ahead, which… well, it’s their wedding, hopefully they’re not walking into a bad scenario right from the get go. That shot might work better on a clear day- its a little corny, but maybe even walking off into a beautiful sunset together?
