If it’s really cold, wear rubber gloves. They’ll keep your hands from drying out and will keep you warm from wind, and the extra grip is handy.

On the flip side, bring corn starch powder for your boots. You want to keep your feet dry, especially if you’re tromping around in the snow. Cold+snow+wet feet == frostbite.

Yay Farktography.net!!! I celebrated with some birthday ice cream last night, but alas, no alkeehol. But everyone have a round of virtual tequila on me!

    I’m a n00b so I guess I’ll just have a non-alcoholic beer or something…

What the hell kind of excuse is that for drinking near beer? I’ve seen the pictures; I know you can hold your own. Man up and drink some real (virtual) beer!

And after his outstanding performance this week (rock on man!), millera9 better be downing some real, tall frosty beverages in celebration 🙂

question for zeke: can we make a “Farkamera Project” menu item (or something similar) when the time comes, to hold a gallery of the pix, and any anecdotes and so on?

Yep. We can set an album up, add a link on the menu, and grant rights to everyone that participated to edit it, so folks can post whatever description they’d like with the photo. We can even set it so the random image block only picks from that album for a little while 🙂

I gotta go with door #1, actually. IMO the pink filter brings out the highlights of most of the flower nicely, but you lose the quality of the dark tones at the center of the flower.

There’s a config for the entire engine telling the software what timezone the server is in. Then, each user can tell the system what time zone they are in, so it always looks ‘right’. I just adjusted the time on the framework back to GMT-5, so if your user settings are correct for the timezone you are in, it should show as ‘right’

    You suck, schnee.

    You really, really suck.

I’d be down with once a month doing something different on Sunday, but I’d rather have the margarita instead. Make mine with Sauza Tres Generaciones, por favor…

Usually, I hate M$ not having a real file system.

What, you’re saying NTFS isn’t a real filesystem? *tries to keep a straight face, but breaks up into hysterical laughter*

I think the issue is that “farktography.net” != “www.farktography.net” as far as DNS is concerned. My old bookmark pointed to “farktography.net”, which contains the “We’re down but go checkout the forums” page that veruca(?) put up a while back.

Aroo? Try hitting shift+reload, that sounds cached.

Thanks for the feedback Mikemikeb. We’re still going through and cleaning house, and we’ve got a lot of work to do over the next few days to make it look like the way we want it to. At this point, the framework’s in place, the forum’s migrated and integrated, and that’s just about it. Lots more to come, but pardon the cyberdust along the way!

    You sort of missed it.

It was a tough choice between that or Foobies.

IMHO, HDR requires the use of image editing to blend layers of the same image to make a really cool looking image. While that’s spiffy and all, doesnt that fit better in the realm for the Photoshop contest more than it does here? I thought this group was for who could take the best picture, not who was better at doctoring the photos with Photoshop or Gimp….
