Participantre: 100mm macro – ‘cuda got to get himself one of those. That and wait till temps cool off till sub 100 in the mid-afternoon so I can stand still long enough to get some close shots. Time and patience is one thing I don’t always have a lot of when out shooting.

ParticipantFantastic dragonfly shots bender, even if you’re striving for even better. What’s your setup for those? Perhaps it’s the heat outdoors down here at the moment, but can’t imagine being patient enough to get that close or that many shots. (yes, I’m a bit envious)

ParticipantAlready weighed in saying flash, etc was all good. Great entries already pouring in. Looking forward to seeing the rest. Just about to sit down for dinner here. Wife has a few of her musician friends over and the other side of the house is full of flute music, but the smells of dinner are also starting to waft over this direction.

ParticipantAmazing shot chupa. Looking forward to the next result.

ParticipantHere it is, my theme, and I’m digging through my archives. I had a few ideas for this theme, but none of them ever came to fruition. I’ve got a few possibles from my trip to the minor league baseball game last month, and some from the cycling critierium seen in my earlier post, and a few other possibles, just nothing that really stands out yet.

Participantfluffy, completely by luck and chance. Was standing out there on the side of the road missing some spectacular bolts going ‘damn it, should have bought a trigger when I first thought about it.’ To get those three bolts, looks like I have about 30 shots.

ParticipantEvening aimed towards the sunset was pretty boring looking this evening. However pointed the opposite direction was much a different story:

— probably first lightning strike I’ve ever captured.
— quickly followed by the second.

ParticipantThanks all. Yup, first win. With the quality of photos that get posted every week I thought I’d never get a top 5 let alone two in 3 week’s time. Y’all have really made me pick up my game. Now I need to really get around to getting my final shot for Carnival and then get around to getting a few more shots made for ‘Freeze Frame’, especially since that’s my theme. *eek*

ParticipantI’ve been through Happy Tx!

ParticipantThat 2nd one, imtheonlylp is WAY tool cool. Reminds me of an undersea creature from the deep!
Exactly what I thought… that one really stood out for me.
That’s exactly what I though, to both of you.
Is it just me, or is blue anyone else’s favorite color of light?
1) I saw the under water creature similarities too
2) Not just you. 🙂

ParticipantUranus, I’m with Rav, “..8462” is a great shot. And the rav ‘not what you think it is’ and the sandy pipe are both fantastic shots.
