ParticipantPicasa keeps loosing my full sized images. The thumbnail works, but clicking through to the view shows nothing but a broken image tag. *NOT AMUSED* Had to go scurry back to the HDD to re-upload my last shot.

ParticipantAlways been a fan of Canon P&S’s, I’d start there and find the best one in your budget.

ParticipantFairly sure this was the 135, don’t think I could have backed up far enough for the 300mm while still being inside my office.

This one I did make note that it was the 300mm when I uploaded it.

— who takes a picture of a fence from across his drive way with a 300mm lens, this guy. lolBarracuda
Participantemiliogtz: I’m going to go against the crowd and say the masked lady, because I like it a lot. (Mostly because it is also my style of photography) Of course, my style does crap all in voting, so the best idea is to do the ATV 😛
I’m with you on this one. While I like the ATV shot, there’s something about the masked lady that appeals to me.

ParticipantI like the lady bug shot personally.

ParticipantI’ll admit now that one of my shots for this coming week is going to be a total vote-whoring entry. One of my favorites from early last month. The other two however will most likely be top entries from previous contests.
Barracuda
ParticipantGrats on the win! Lots of fantastic entries this week, voting seems to be responding nicely to the return to a single ‘Vote’ button too. *knock on (Wow Nice) wood*

ParticipantGood point sleeping. I think I’ve come up with the solution – rent a 18-135 from BorrowLenses for the week of my trip, when I get back I can look through the shots and determine where most of the shots focal length range fall in and make any future purchases on a more informed basis.

Participant50mm f1.4 first outing:
Wide open:

And very much NOT wide open:

And I think I may have tweaked the grass in this shot a bit too vibrant:

ParticipantI may consider a second body this time next year, but I’ve committed myself to not buying one till then. Good advice Yoyo, and seems like the types of situations where I had this lens in mind. I may swing through CL again on Monday and see if it’s still up there or if something similar gets posted.

ParticipantI am the newbie. Don’t know what to do.
Almost forgot to add – Welcome to the forums! Pull up a chair and make yourself comfortable; there’s lotsa good folks here.
+1. I’m fairly new around these parts as well. I think I’ve got enough decent entries to pick 3 for a recap of what I’ve contributed so far.
I will note that I appricaite getting Rust Never Sleeps pushed back till after my road/hike/bike trip later this month. Went out last night trying to get a few shots I had in mind, but from the quick review of the results this morning, not entirely sure any of them made the grade.

ParticipantNo, I will not be subjecting the 50mm to the elements for any undue amount of time. But am looking forward to trying out some late evening shots this weekend.

ParticipantPhotos posted, back up finished, the old box is getting shut down, gutted and a new heart (and lungs and just about everything else) being put in tonight. Win7, a return to Intel CPU’s, and my first SSD disk on the horizon.
Oh, and a B-side: https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-rd-9KwCwGsc/T6HA9uO9e1I/AAAAAAAAGpo/-uRiZ8eoxmA/s800/IMG_2208-3.jpg
Fence in the back yard, taken with the Nikon 300mm adapted to the XSi, I think that’s the SOOC version, I may have touched up the contrast and clarity slightly. Was backed up to the far side of the driveway with that lens on the camera, mostly testing sharpness, etc.

ParticipantMy new 50mm f1.4 arrives tomorrow, and I have plans for it. 🙂

Participantblasted, that’s it, I need a set of tubes now, the macro filters I have don’t produce nearly that crisp of an image at the edges. :-/ great shot with the ND filters on the falls as well. Hoping to get some similar shots on my up coming trip in a few weeks, but still don’t think I’ll be anywhere near a set of falls quite that size.
