ParticipantLooks good, orionid. Good job categorizing your sample shots and nice “About Me” section. All of the links seem to work fine. My only complaint would be the dark blue against black link color (e.g., the “Posted In” links at the bottom of the Brownholio article) – it’s darn near unreadable.

ParticipantAnd it doesn’t delete entries that drop off until the contest ends (on the possibility that they may reappear).
This is brilliant–thank you!
Thanks! And you’re welcome! But just to clarify, it does drop out of the Bibliostats contest listing when it drops off Fark; it’s just not deleted from the database unless it’s still gone by contest end, the reason being that the scraper doesn’t know if it just disappeared temporarily or if you (or another mod) removed it for cause.
So it really doesn’t provide any benefit to the end user, but it keeps the scraper from having to redownload the image and generate a thumbsnail if it reappears. It also allows me to see that it was there at some point in time.
CauseISaidSo
ParticipantI can confirm. The scraper has only ever seen two entries from you this contest, orionid. And it doesn’t delete entries that drop off until the contest ends (on the possibility that they may reappear). The only way that’s possible is if 1) it dropped off almost immediately after being posted (between 15-minute scans); or 2) as Els suggests, it was never posted.

ParticipantEls, I’m guessing olavf meant to enable voting but forgot for his first post. Also, sorry to hear about your kitties. 🙁

ParticipantNBD, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but isn’t Five Is Right Out an ineligible contest since it’s pre-last anniversary?

ParticipantIs CISS ready for the barrage of ‘Scarlet R’s’?
Funny you should ask, rav, because that realization came to me earlier this week. I had to modify the scraper to add a switch to turn off repost checking or else you’re right – it would’ve been one busy Scarlet R page. 🙂
// emiliogtz, my vote’s on the quad. It’s a great action shot.

ParticipantOK, iwanttoeatyourchildren is no more. He’s been disappeared. All of your entries and stats and now combined under bender16v.
CauseISaidSo
ParticipantIndeed he has. She lacks the goatee, but she’s still my Evil Photography Twin.
/also has an Evil Photography Triplet
//also bereft of goatee🙄 Yeah, right… If there’s anything I learned from Star Trek, it’s that evil twins ALWAYS have goatees. If that weren’t the case, how would we know that YOU aren’t the evil twin? 😯

ParticipantA few milestones this week: This contest was the 200th for Curious, the 250th for U-Man, and the 300th for sleeping.
CauseISaidSo
ParticipantCongrats zero on your first win! Been a long time coming. And congrats U-Man on another combined win.
For those who might’ve missed it last week, the weekly reports have been moved online. See this post for more details.

ParticipantMay 7, 2012 – New Features
- The weekly reports that I used to post here are now online and accessible via the Contestants/Reports menu. Reports have been expanded to include the top 100 contestants in each category and contain all of the rankings of the previous version plus a few new ones (17 categories altogether) across 3 different time periods.
- Rankings for each of the categories represented on the Contestant Reports page appear on the individual contestant pages. This gives you a quick way of viewing where you stand in all categories (or if you’re not in the top 100 for a category).
Note that if you’ve previously checked out either of these changes, I’ve also color-coded the time period columns in this release, so let me know if you like the change. If found it to be much more readable.

ParticipantIs it just me before my ‘morning’ coffee, or are some of the weekly stats showing up on the Bibliostats page?
You weren’t hallucinating, rav, but you must’ve missed my post at the end of the Off Kilter thread. 😉 I didn’t make an official announcement here yet because it was a beta release, but it’s official now. See below for more details…

ParticipantI am the newbie. Don’t know what to do.
Almost forgot to add – Welcome to the forums! Pull up a chair and make yourself comfortable; there’s lotsa good folks here.

ParticipantAre these shots from old contests that may be entrants or B-sides, or is it anything I’ve shot between May 12, 2011 & May 12, 2012?
Either/or as long as it was taken since the last anniversary contest.
The gist of this theme is a recap of the past year and a celebration of the top/favorite entries. With that in mind, most of the regulars re-enter previous entries, but to allow recent newbs to still participate, it’s not limited to that.
w11113, since you only have a couple of past contests to work with, anything you’ve shot since 5/9/11 is acceptable. It’s a wide-open contest.
The only limitation is that the shots have to abide by the normal Farktography rules UNLESS they’re re-used shots from a contest with a different ruleset. For example, you can’t enter a stitched panorama in this contest UNLESS it’s a shot that you previously entered in the 6/22/11 Volcanoes, Waterfalls, and Mountains contest which allowed them.
Els, just noticed that you’ve got 2010 instead of 2011 in the first post.

ParticipantAlso, am I the only person that sees the face in this tree?
If we’re looking at the same thing, I see the eyes & eyebrows quite clearly. It’s the nose/mouth where it starts to break down/blur for me.
