I wonder if CISS can append the bibliostats so your figures roll over?

Yeah, I could do that. If it’s something you want to do, let me know. This week’s really hectic (hence no entries from me, again) so it might not be until Monday or so, but definitely before the next contest.

I keep thinking of trying another dual boot setup to play with some Linux setups

Take a look at VMware’s free virtualization products (VMPlayer, VMServer). Up until a couple of years ago, I had to maintain software that ran on every system from Win98 forward, so I setup virtual machines for each OS. It was truly a godsend. Before that, I did the multi-boot thing which was a PITA.

Yay! Awesome news! Now if we can get voters to return in the numbers we used to see…

Congrats Farktographer on your first win and on the sweep of both individual and combined. And now for something completely different…

Don’t have a lot of time to go into detail right now ’cause I just finished it and have to get to bed, but the stats reports are now online through the Contestants/Reports menu. We now have 17 different categories in 3 different time periods to see how badly U-Man kicks our collective @sses (seriously – that’s 51 lists and he’s #1 on 40 of them). Ranking is also displayed on the individual stats pages.

I’ll see what I can do. Scanning and posting is the easy part – finding it is the trick.

I’ll have to look into the RAID options, then.

And yeah, XP is going out when everyone quits coding in 32bit. It’s getting to the point now that XPs memory cap has become an insurmountable hurdle. Sounds so strange to be saying that 3G of RAM ain’t enough.

    Well, there’s always 64-bit XP…

And yeah, supported RAID configurations vary by mobo & BIOS. I’ve got a mix of RAID and non-RAID because I had a couple of 250G drives from my previous computer that I still wanted to use. It’s an ASUS mobo. I don’t know for sure, but I’d guess that I could make either of the non-RAIDS the boot disk, but that would remove the purpose of going RAID 10 in the first place.

I’ll bet it was awesome. Nice shots.

And now to show my age a bit – I’ve got a shot (on the ground) of the Enterprise/747 combo from back when it was first built as a prototype for the other shuttles. I should dig that out sometime and scan it. I remember looking at it through the airport fence when I took the shot and thinking how cool it was, and now the whole program is retired.

I don’t know a single person who uses IE willingly and is under the age of 65.

Now you do. 🙂 I’ve got other browsers installed for testing, but I’ve never been compelled enough to bother switching since IE7 (on IE9 now). I will agree that IE6 is and was full-on crap. I didn’t even bother to try to support it on BiblioStats.

Who in 1995 thought we’d ever have an OS that took a full Gigabyte of hard drive space?

One GB? ONE GB? My C:Windows folder has 40GB in it. At the same time, who would’ve foreseen 1TB drives for $90 and machines with 12-16GB of memory? I’ve got 4x1TB drives configured as a 2TB RAID 10 array for less than I paid for a 200MB drive back then.

As far as Windows O/S’s go, 98, XP, and 7 were/are the best. After seeing Vista on my wife’s machine, I was really loath to move from XP to 7, but 7 is now probably my favorite ever.

I get a 404 when I go directly to the zenfolio URL (cjbuckwalter.zenfolio.com), so it looks like the domain (buckwalterphotography.com) is pointing to the right place but the original URL isn’t correct. http://carolejbuckwalter.zenfolio.com/ gets me to your gallery, but I don’t know if that’s the same one you’re wanting to point the domain at.

If you just now setup the subdomain cjbuckwalter.zenfolio.com, it may take up to 24-48 hours for it to propogate across the DNS network.

Also, note that while http://buckwalterphotography.com looks like it points to cjbuckwalter.zenfolio.com, http://www.buckwalterphotography.com points to an “under construction” web page. I’m not a DNS expert (or even up on it much), but I think you need to add another record that maps the www URL to the non-www address.

damn, there’s a lot of pics with single-digit votes….good ones. WTF happened while I was away?

Voting in general in the last quarter or so has dropped to levels not seen since early 2007. Coincidentally, you’ve been gone for the last quarter. Dang, Uranus, how many groupies do you have (and more importantly, can you get them back voting again?) 😉

Yep, it was just a bug, isolated to the participation rate calculation. Forgot to change the 12 to 13 when I changed the definition of SQ. Too bad, I wanted to see the evil twin Els with her goatee. 🙂

In other news, Bibliostats thinks I’ve participated 108% of the time in this sliding quarter?

Hmm, I’m assuming you don’t have an evil twin from an alternate universe entering shots on your behalf, so that’d be a bug, then. 😉 Thanks for the heads up!

Not sure where else to put this, so here it is: Some have wished before that there was some means of voting without seeing user names (to better promote fairness), so here’s a script that allows just that. It removes the username and TotalFark icon from all entries on a contest page. To use it:

    1. Open the contest page where you’d normally vote. To prevent having to do this multiple times, you’ll probably want to view all entries on a single page.
    2. Before scrolling down to see any entries, paste the javascript below into the address bar of your browser and press enter. The entire script should be one single line. Also, for some reason IE9 eats the leading “javascript:” when you first paste it into the broswer address bar. Just position the cursor at the front of the address bar and type it back in before pressing Enter and it’ll work.

    javascript:var%20x=$(‘div.cloginLeft%20a[id^=”cu”]’).remove();var%20y=$(‘div.cloginLeft%20a[href$=”totalfarksignup”]’).remove()

    Dude, that shot’s gorgeous. And it’s a B? Yikes.

About to head for Happy Hour, will post up mine when I return. I’m up in the air between these two for my last selection:

I like the second one best for its prominent rays & shafts of light.
