We have an office in SD and I’ve been there several times. I don’t think I could live there and be productive (unless I won the lottery and retired, anyway); almost every day is the perfect weather for a cycle ride, the kind we get for a couple of weeks in the spring and fall here.

I’ve got a rider on my homeowners that covers all of my camera equipment against pretty much anything, including on foreign land. It’s relatively cheap compared to replacement costs ($100 a year for $7K coverage, I think).

Good luck with the hurricane all you east-coasters. Having been through one (I lived in Raleigh in ’96 for Fran), I can most assuredly say that I’ll take my tornados over a hurricane any day. Tornados come and go within 20 minutes as opposed to constantly beating on you for 8+ hours and they aren’t as wide as a freaking state.

FYI, I’m hoping to be able to squeeze in a little time between now and vacation to add a Scarlet R page to BiblioStats as I won’t be around to report them then. As I mentioned previously, my schedule’s really tight ‘twixt now and then, so I can’t commit to it, but we’ll see.

Well, it needed to be done before I leave, so I went ahead and bit the bullet. The first post of the New Features & Updates Announcement thread has been updated with the details. So, no more routine reporting of Scarlet R’s here. Els, the new report has links to the entries in the Fark contest pages, so you’re not losing that, you’ll just have to remember to check the active contest page periodically.

I really hate to ask this, but is there any way we could push this back a couple of weeks? Would that cause a problem for anyone?

I’m going to be out on vacation with limited net access during this time and I’d hate to miss my own theme. I could use my autoposter, but that would require the time to prep my images before leaving and I’m sure you all know that vacation isn’t really time off, it’s just time shifted, so I’m really pressed for time before I leave.

It looks like I’ll be sitting this one out. I’m struggling with work trying to get some things done before vacation in a couple of weeks, so I’ve had very little time to put into selecting from the archives, much less shooting new (as I’ve demonstrated recently – my overall performance in the last contest was my 4th worst ever.) Since we decided that scan’s of 3D objects are kosher (and I don’t have a true macro lens), I thought I might go that route, but I don’t even have time for that.
