I’d like add my apologies to kestrana, orionid and everyone who wanted to vote for them to this forum as well as fark. It’s not my/our fault, but I still feel really bad that the OBO hosting went sour. Some one of those pix was corrupted or some such and gave our server existential fits. We couldn’t even get into the directory I’d placed them in without going to a level of computer expertise that Olav thankfully has, though I don’t. It totally changed our plans as to which of our network computers we were going to replace. 😯

Lol I know you weren’t talking to me. Actually while I did make some suggestions just because they couldn’t even look at their profiles, kestrana, at least, had something in mind on her own. Anyhoo, it’s done, they got to play. Kestrana says they will have internet on Tuesday, so in time for next contest!

No, that sounds fine. I just meant if you’re taking a picture you’ve used before and doing non-standard re-edits to (e.g. doing HDR to a photo you’d previously submitted as a regular photo) then it isn’t kosher unless you actually used it for a non-standard theme like HDR or Hootenanny. Using the original on something you previously submitted to color-popping sounds fine to me.

Sorry, I”m just now seeing this kat. I’m not terribly concerned with re-edits. Unless you’re doing HDR on something you submitted before, then it should only be HDR (or hootenanny) that you’ve submitted to a contest.

That confused me a little, I’m sorry. I narrowed it down to one case. A picture I did selective desaturation for the color-popping: I want to submit the full color pic.

I have a fourth pic standing by if that one isn’t okay.

Okay, it’s contest day, so I’m going to go with a literal interpretation of “any picture”.

I’ve not been Farktography-ing very long, but I’ve been a Fark Photoshopper for a while now. In that time I’ve learned one important thing, the voters of Fark operate on Chaos Theory. There is no logic, no reason and no point in letting it get you down. While I’ve notice a better eye for quality in Farktography, I promise you that I could shoot a can of gold spray paint and a bottle of Heineken into every contest and land at LEAST 20 votes, each time. In a week or two, people would coming in the thread not find them and say “Came for gold spray paint, leaving disappointed”.

Hmmm, I wonder if I could actually do that…

I have a little saying I say to myself (and sometimes Olav, and occasionally here at farktography.net….) each week:

Voters… can’t live with ’em, can’t kill ’em or we’d get no votes at all. 😉

I just realized that one of the pix I was asking about above that I’d entered before… I entered it in last year’s anniversary contest (not knowing that the tradition was for previous entries)… and it placed 102nd… so I might want to re-think entering it again lmao.

This is going to be a sucktastic week for me, I can feel it now.

I think that you’ve had a pretty great year, fwiw.

That means a lot to me, coming from you. Well it would coming from anyone, but especially from people who consistently do better than me lol.

I figure I’ve had my good weeks and my bad weeks, but the important thing is that my average votes/entry keeps climbing. Maybe at a snails pace, but at least it’s going in the right direction. I guess I’m feeling negative right now because my recent votes/entry is lower than my all-time, which means that overall, my last 10 weeks has been less than stellar. But anyway, thanks!
