Participantbtw…notice he’s using NIKON 😉
Well of course, the first rule of extreme location photography is not to use equipment you would miss if it breaks! 😈
😆 and a begrudged touche! to you.

ParticipantCool video, heres the photos he took http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2011/05/yosemite-climbing/chin-photography
Wow, thanks I missed those! Some turn my stomach, like the Thank God Ledge and the ones with no rope. The fact that they live in that tent thing for up to two weeks is really crazy, along with the skateboarding, jumping off to get back down, walking the wire and….well just EVERYTHING they’re doing!
LOL It makes my motherly genes go nuts, don’t know how their moms live through it, unless they’re tranq’d to the gills.

ParticipantI found a (relatively) cheap one. It goes into the hotshoe (just as a place to put it, basically), and connects to the cable release socket to trigger the camera when it sees a bright flash.
I wouldn’t want to leave a camera on it unattended out in a storm though…
Oh, that is a lot better price, the one I looked at was $329. Did you get the sound trigger too, that sounds pretty neato for $50 more, even though I can’t think what I’d use it for off-hand. 😆

ParticipantDitto on the job thingy!! I’m very glad to hear you’re gainfully employed again (means you won’t have as much time to come up with shots that, frankly, blow the rest of us out of the diesel water). 🙂
I was outside doing a fire-fighting trainer.
😯
😛
😆 I had the same expression!
Congrats on the job & hope the trainer was hot, Orion!

ParticipantMy apartment building is U shaped, so I might be able to get some shots from the front door without too much wind exposure, but the view from there isn’t anything special. My lightning trigger has arrived though, so I may get to test it some…
Huh, I never knew there was such a thing as a lightning trigger, pretty cool! I’m scared to death of lightning, especially after there was a strike about 50 feet from my house last week! I almost fell off the couch when I heard it hit, scary!
I just looked one up on Google, but didn’t read all the info after I saw the ‘out of my range’ price. I saw a cable release mentioned, so does that mean you still have to sit with your camera or can you set it up somewhere and it will shoot away while you go hide in the car?
Everyone in the path of the hurricane, stay safe!

Participantwhy, oh why, did I set myself the challenge of making all my subjects white?
My cursing has already caused an earthquake on the east coast, and my wailing upon viewing the final results has blown
a hurricane in that direction….😆

ParticipantI have no issues pushing it off. It will give me more time to wait till the last minute to shoot. B&W is a good substitution.
agreeance from here.

ParticipantWell, shells and spider webs are not and have never been living. I’d say they’re completely fair game.
Ok, thanks Els & Rav, just wanted to make sure!
Reminder to self & others: DUST your object before spending 2 hrs working up some back spasms for a bunch of CRAPPY pics. 🙄

Participantare shells ok?

ParticipantI removed the cat from the cardboard box light tent.
😆 That was pretty dang funny, Ennuipoet!
it brings back the old “I put on my robe, and wizard hat…”
kept me chuckling all day!
It’s making me giggle reading that line again today. I’ve got to have my son read it too because cats are FUNNY. 😉

ParticipantWe’ve had a couple of those over the years, but thankfully they’re not the norm. I’m hoping my response will nip that kind of thing in the bud. Someone’s also been voting down our links consistently every week for at least the past 6 weeks. Not sure what’s up with that.
I wondered what was going on with that and why the threads only had a few votes lately.

ParticipantIt’s more often than not an unintentional thing; there’s no consequence on Fark, and you’re welcome to submit a different entry to take its place.
Ok, thanks! I had to stop & check one of mine in the FSM, got that sinking feeling at the last moment that I’d used it and didn’t want to chance screwing up.

ParticipantWhen you get a Scarlet R, can you submit another entry or are you done?

ParticipantMy daughter caught this guy on the driveway tonight. I don’t know what he is,
I’m fairly confident that’s a snake.
