Yikes Lokisbong, so sorry to hear you’re dealing with that crap!

Well, I was sitting here wondering wtf was going on & why the thread hadn’t been posted yet. 😳

Oh well, at least I’m ready and have one new shot.

Ok, thanks Kestrana! I wasn’t sure if the description’s wording meant they had to be new or not.

Sorry if I missed it, but is this a no archive diving contest? I’m thinking about using a couple of horse books like the Tao of Equus or Horses & Their Women , but couldn’t get access to any horses for new shots.

But if it has to be new shots, that’s ok, I’ll see what else I can come up with.

I don’t understand 98% of what you smart guys are talking about, but love the pics, they’re so amazing and I want moar! 🙂

FYI for any Nikon Astro’s, check the thread I just posted in the Software forum about the new ‘astro noise reduction’ filter in CNX2.

Welcome, Daniel! If you haven’t poked around yet, you might want to check out the ‘How to Participate’ link which is very helpful when getting started. It talks about file sizes and lots of good stuff. Fark restricts the file size, which can get frustrating when you’re trying to get your entries submitted. There’s a ‘Scratchpad’ thread where you can test your postings which is good to do before each Contest thread opens. You can find it here: http://www.fark.com/comments/69#new

Note to Mods: just noticed the ‘Participate’ info lacks a Bibliostats reference. Also, I think it would be good to include the link for the scratchpad thread. I remember when I first read about it there & then had to search around to find what/where the heck the ‘scratchpad’ was.

The Canon 5D is so good Nikon uses footage taken on it to promote the D800.

    You’re move Nikonia 😛

Well, someone has to take the King’s portrait…duh. 🙄

Do these have to be new shots or can we archive dive?

The horses and burros at the hot springs are about 20 miles away, close to Goldfield Nv. There is an alkali lake bed nearby and a bit down the same road is a lithium mine and Silver Peak Nv. the last time I was there was this last summer but the critters live there all year round from what I gather. the exploring sounds like lots of fun to me. I have a 22 pistol and a Ruger 10/22 rifle and just for kicks I could even bring the cap n ball 44 with loading supplies for a dozen or two shots.

Hmmm, the horses and a bit of exploring does sound interesting. I’ve never shot a gun and am not sure if I ever want to. It’s a dilemma for me – the cowgirl buried within wants to shoot ’em up while the hippie at the surface wants to put a flower in the barrel. 😆

Even target practice disturbs the peace; it scares animals and puts shock waves in the flow of our surrounding energy. (I’d actually never thought about it that way before, thanks wake & bake!) 😆

    It’s not easy being me…. 😳

heh..you should let us twist your arm into a night or two of sleep on the ground. I’d even let you have my air matress LOL…

    😆
Well, it’s not the air mattress that would bother me, slept on one for 2 yrs & loved it, but the whole ‘being out in the middle of nowhere in the dark with bugs & bears’ thing that says NO WAY. (well the guy with the hook for a hand plays a part too…)

But, if I were to do it, I’d bring my Kingsnake to protect me from the rattlers. 😉

I even know where there are hot springs miles from town with wild horses and burros running around the last time I was out there.

Now that perked my ears up! How long ago were you there? Is it this area east of Tonopah?

I wouldn’t be interested in the camping (I’ve camped like 3 times in my life, not a big fan), but I’d maybe visit a friend in Vegas & then drive up for the day to photograph the horses.

Ok, here’s how to make a pin-hole camera:

Thanks for the explanation, Yoyo, maybe I can try that method.

kestrana: from Amazon: “It assembles in less than one hour without tools or glue.” Which, in my case, would mean 4 hours with it still not being right. 😆

Yeah, not really sure what to make of the monkey…

    😯

    That’s what I made of it….

    then a lot of this….

    😆 😆 😆 😆

and I’m still like WTF?…that’s one crazy monkey!

As for fitting the theme, probably not, but I’m glad they posted it just because it’s so bizarre and a great moment to capture.

And then I saw Ennui’s post and laughed some more, thanks Farkers!

eta: Another one that threw me is the creepy butt shot of the 3 women… 🙄

    Sorry, seems I’m a little emoticonal this morning… 😳

eta2: omg, now I just saw the one with the people in white in Japan, the lady and the chicken & the drag queen softball game. I need the emoti that’s smoking a doobie to properly express my feelings right now. 😆
