I just got this shot with last nights storms.

Heres some more, we had a pretty good show down here although my shutter clicked shut just in time for the best bolt of the night http://www.flickr.com/photos/guine/tags/monsoon/

Well Ive made it out to arizona in one peice. Got most of my pics from the trip and some of the park Im at for the summer up here http://www.flickr.com/photos/guine/?saved=1
I’d be up for playing with telescopes, I should be off that weekend although I’ll probably be slow responding to anything online since right now I have to drive 30 miles to get online.

I wish I had a chance to go through the photos Ive been taking on my drive to Arizona. At least I got settled in a hotel room in time to beat the liters to posting.

Great work although I do want to note, and Elsinore or linguine or curious can correct me if I’m wrong, but they did allow more than 3 entries in the early contests, prior to the current rules being instituted. I don’t know when the change actually happened though.

It’s been 3 entries since I started in the 20’s(I think). There may have been no entry limit back when the contests were just people posting pictures in the totalfark discussion before voting even started.

Not sure if we could make 2 contests at the same time fly. I have some concerns that the themes themselves will bring out all kinds of people to thread shit with GIS’s and softcore porn as it is….

You’re saying that like it would be a bad thing.

I’ve never used topaz adjust so I’m trying to remember it from the last time it came up. If I remember right part of the problem with it was that it didn’t apply evenly across the entire image and would work differently in different localized sections(or something like that). So I guess Im wondering does the sharpening work across the entire image similar to how photoshop’s sharpening works?

Phoenix should be a little under 2.5 hours from me and I think I’ll be off every weekend, at least most, so I’d be up for a trip to Phoenix although I may need to bum a couch if we’re doing something late.

My biggest barrier to using film cameras more often is how irritating my current scanner is. I bought it on a whim at Fry’s without doing enough research and then found out it’s not supported on Linux. And since my Windows system is seriously underpowered, that makes me a grumpy negative scanner… If/When I get a replacement scanner I’ll start using the film cameras more. Digital is just too convenient for me to ever switch back for good. But I love the uncertainty and occasion randomness of film, especially with oddball cameras that are prone to distorting images. I bought two Lomo’s on vacation in Prague years ago and I’d definitely start carrying them in my gear bag again.

I’ve never done much with scanning and never scanned negatives but I’ve found some scanning programs in ubuntu that I was just able to plug my scanner in and use no problem for things like this past contest.

Ive still got my film slr but I don’t think I’ve used it since switching to the darkside(film to digital or canon to nikon, take your pick). I’d pull it out and play with it if I had access to a darkroom again though.
