ParticipantA whole lot of awesome there olavf. I have lived here in the Nevada desert since November and it still blows me away to see how dark blue the sky can be at mid day. And the night sky is a thousand times better if the humidity drops low enough. well at least around here in Tonopah.

ParticipantI don’t remember exactly which catalog. It was one of those catalogs with all the cutesy yard decorations and fairies and stuff like that. A friend of mine gets them in the mail all the time. but I now live in a different state so I doubt I will see one anytime soon. If I remember next time I talk to her I will ask her about it.

Participanthah… just found this one in the batch of pics…

How often do you find a tissue dispenser worth taking a pic of?I’ve seen those in catalogs. I still haven’t seen one in real life yet. Pretty cool looking and it even looks like it works ok.

Participantfor mine, i made a barrel that slides over the lens. sealed it with black electrical tape.
a bit cumbersome sometimes for focusing, but i don’t have to worry about light leaking in from the sides.I made my new and improved filter with a better fit to the uv filter ring and don’t get any light leaks and it is as easy as can be to use manual focus. I could make it even less likely to have leaks around the edges if I had another screw in ring from a different uv filter to act the same way the ring that holds the glass in place in the first place. I guess I could try to take apart the uv filter and put the cut out where the glass bit is now but I kinda like the little extra protection leaving the glass in affords.

ParticipantAdded some to the album that I took today/yesterday. Thoughts? Will likely go with at least one of the flame ones and one of the abstract ones, maybe one of the berries, not sure.

ParticipantThose are very cool. Is there a wee bit of hdr going on? if so it is not the over done variety.

ParticipantHow do you get good depth of field with that kit lens? I will not be taking my camera underwater. hahahahahahahahaha! Gasp!

ParticipantCovers are cheap. I ordered 5 or 6 off-brand a while back because a) I lose them, and b) they make a great mount for homebrew lenses. 15 Seconds with a dremel (or 5 minutes with an exacto knife)and you can even make it lock onto the body.
Edited because BBCode can’t read a complex URL.
Edited Twice because you’re just going to have to copy and paste the damn thing…http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ns=p_PRICE_2|0&ci=416&N=4288586873Yeah I knew they are pretty inexpensive but until I get a job and some form of plastic money I cannot order anything off the internet. I have a very limited amount of cash and nowhere nearby to purchase such things.

ParticipantThis is a project I have wanted to try. I wish I had a camera store around here and a few bucks to spare. I accidentally busted my body cap and now don’t have one to try this with. No money means I don’t even have the means to make an old fashioned film version out of a oatmeal container or something like that.
